Browser Helper Object

A Browser Helper Object (BHO) is a software module designed to hook into a web browser to provide added functionality. Often such modules enable display of different file formats not ordinarily interpretable by the browser, such as PDF or spreadsheets. Some forms of spyware use this mechanism also.
