Croscore fonts
Appearance
The Chrome OS core fonts, also known as Croscore fonts, is the collective name of four TrueType font families: Arimo (sans-serfi), Tinos (serif) and Cousine (monospace). These fonts are metrically compatible with Monotype Corporation’s Arial, Times New Roman, and Courier New (respectively), the most commonly used fonts on Microsoft Windows operating system and Office suite, for which they are intended as open-source substitutes. Google licensed those fonts from Ascender Corporation under the SIL Open Font License. The fonts were developed by Steve Matteson of Ascender Corporation as Ascender Sans and Ascender Serif, which are also used for the Liberation fonts licensed by Red Hat under another open source license.[1]
