The Tivoli Music Hall was a popular English music hall based in the Strand, in the West End of London. It was designed and built by Frank Matcham in 1889, and opened on 24 May 1890. It was built opposite the Adelphi Theatre[1] on the site of the Tivoli Beer Garden and Restaurant.[2][3]

The music hall closed in 1914[1] and remained shut until 1922 when it was replaced by a cinema called The Tivoli Picture Theatre[1] as part of on-going improvements at the Strand. The establishment of a theatre was in part, due to the decline of music-hall entertainment. The Tivoli Picture Theatre, opened on Friday the 7th of September 1923 with the showing of the film Where the Pavement Ends. The Cinema closed in 1957 and the building was finally demolished. The name was also adopted by many other British music hall theatres which were located elsewhere in England.[1]
