Comhar (comhar = partnership, cooperation, teamwork) is a journal in the Irish language published by the company Comhar Teoranta. The same company also publishes books in Irish (around three a year.) Comhar was founded in 1942, and is presently edited by Pól Ó Muirí.

Comhar has as its stated aims to be a journal of first choice for writers, scholars, critics and readers of Irish, to publish the best of new writing in Irish, to be a high-quality forum for analysis and discussion of current affairs, to provide intellectual stimulation and be a platform for debate.

Comhar is one of two prominent literary journals in the Irish language, the other being Feasta,[1] founded around the same time. Both have published work by notable writers in Irish: in the case of Comhar these include Máirtín Ó Cadhain, Seán Ó Ríordáin, Máirtín Ó Direáin, Máire Mhac an tSaoi and Brendan Behan.

Comhar did much to stimulate new writing in Irish for over half a century, and afforded a number of editors (including the well-known journalist and novelist Breandán Ó hEithir) the chance to broaden the intellectual and literary scope of the language. It was clear by the beginning of 2008, however, that its readership was declining steeply, and the funding body Foras na Gaeilge decided to give no more money to the journal as it stood.[2] This led to the reconstitution of the board and the appointment of a new editor.

Comhar is now available on-line. It continues to fulfil its traditional function of publishing new writing and providing cultural and social commentary.
