16 Blocks is a 2006 film directed by Richard Donner and based on the story of an aging, bitter NYPD police officer Jack Mosley (Bruce Willis) who is asked to escort a happy-go-lucky criminal witness Eddie Bunker(Mos Def) through sixteen blocks of Lower Manhattan from the police station to a courthouse in less than 118 minutes. Bunker is set to testify before a grand jury at 10:00 a.m.a trip that should hav tooken 15 minutes to complete. No one seems to want the pair to reach their destination, including and ex partner of Mosley, Frank Nugent (David Morse), who is in command of one of the detectives Eddie is suppose to testify against. Jack's trip turns into a quick nightmre when he finds out that the ones who want Eddie dead are actually cops.
It is then sugessed by Nugent to set up a mock hostage situtation in which Eddie is killed and Jack can go on about his way and do wat he does best, just walk away. Jack then goes along with the plan until the last minute then has a change of heart and saves Eddie. This causes a whole change of events that will change the lives of everyone involed.
They are faced with difficult situations at every turn as they make their way through the Big Apple. The film is currently in production and much of the movie is being filmed on location in New York City (though in some scenes Toronto fills in for the city due to tax advantages and budget constraints).
