First Cal (First California Mortgage Company), establishment in 1977, is a full-service mortgage lender based in Petaluma, California, with branches in Tempe, Arizona, Novato, California, Westlake Village, California, Greenwood Village, Colorado, Steamboat Springs, Colorado and Honolulu, Hawaii. First Cal is currently lending in Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon and Washington[1], and previously provided loans in 42 U.S. states[2]. To date, First Cal has funded greater than 300,000 home loans[3], mostly in California, and has a Better Business Bureau rating of A+[4]. With 21 different investors, First Cal funds loans for retail buyers and home builders[5]. The company motto is "Together We Prosper."

First Cal offers refinance programs for existing mortgages and a variety of loan programs, including FHA, VA, HomePath, and jumbo loans[6].

History

First California Mortgage Company was founded in 1977 by Dennis Hart to provided builder and retail financing. The company soon established Headlands Mortgage Company as a wholesale division and expanded its operations across the country as Mortgage Service America. It was sold to a fortune 500 company in the 1990s[7].

Community Service

First Cal participates in the American Cancer Society's Rely for Life as team "Together We Prosper," and is a silver sponsor of the American Cancer Society[8]. First Cal also participates in the Pajama Program, which provides pajamas and books to children in need.
