CCJDC (Cuyahoga county juvenile detention center) is a jail for youths located in Cuyahoga county. The detention center is the oldest detention center for youths in the United States. It is currently on the corner of east 22nd and central ave. in downtown Cleveland but a new detention center is being constructed and planned for the fall of 2010.

The jail holds all types of offenders mainly kids with felonies such as aggravated robberies and/or possession of guns, very few are in on P.V.'s (probation violation) or drug possessions, they tend to only take more high class offenders (people with felonies) due to its poor environment circumstances and racial discrimination juveniles receive from staff. It is a highly secured jail and is in poor quality. Four youths to a toilet and three to a shower at a single time. Over the past years there have been complaints of staff beating juveniles.

It consists of three levels 2 units (cell block) per each level. 1a (orientation), 1b (girls), 2a, 2b, 3a and 3b. The building has metal cells with glass windows and inmates sleep on cots with a 3inch mattress. Inmates wear blue jumpsuits, grey socks, white boxers, colored t-shirt depending on the unit, alternate between orange sandals and black tennis shoe and are allowed a sweatshirt. Some juveniles get the opportunity to stay at a shelter care such as Parmadale or Carrington or get to do their jail time on house arrest. This is not O.D.Y.S., the youth inmates are only held until their court dates when there fate is decided, they cannot serve time their, though they will be credited for any time served before their trial.
