Human Biology is the official publication of the American Association of Anthropological Genetics (AAAG), an educational and scientific organization founded in 1994. AAAG aims to promote the study of anthropological genetics, as this field is broadly defined, to facilitate communication between individuals engaged in the study of anthropological genetics and to foster cooperation among anthropological geneticists.

Founded by Raymond Pearl in 1929, Human Biology gained early prominence as one of a handful of scientific journals in the field of human growth and development.

Beginning with the February 2001 issue of the journal, Human Biology is available online through Project MUSE at the Johns Hopkins University. Since 2006 Human Biology is also available through BioOne. Individual articles in each issue are available in PDF format.
