Brief update early 2010

It's been a while since I was around here regularly, as RL got in the way. I have plenty of free time at the moment, so I'm doing various things around WP. I seem to be doing a lot on sports articles; with the 2010 Winter Olympics coming up I'm working on articles related to the games, US Olympic Team athletes in particular. Patrick Deneen, Shannon Bahrke and Hannah Teter are a few to which I have made significant contributions recently; others coming soon. I've been doing RC patrol and some AfD as well.

I was planning on beginning a new job in February which would have severely limited the amount of time that I could spend here; for various reasons (i.e. the business may never open) that is now in doubt, and I look forward to continuing to help ...

Who Is Wine Guy?

I am Wine Guy. The name Wine Guy comes from one of my vocations as a Sommelier. Sometimes, people in restaurants don't know the correct term, so they ask for 'the wine guy'. I like it, it's less stuffy. I like wine too, which helps. I am currently about halfway through the process of becoming a Master Sommelier.

I am a conservatory educated musician. While my main study was in orchestral percussion and timpani, I also studied voice with a particular concentration in early and baroque music.

I am a lifelong Episcopalian. Being an active member of the church, and a professional singer have gone together well. I have had rare opportunities both as a musician and as a churchman because of the confluence of these two parts of my life.

Being an Episcopalian, as well as an Anglophile has led me to join the WikiProject on Anglicanism and the Anglican Communion. There is a vast amount of work to be done in this area, but I look forward to making a contribution to the cause.

Currently I reside part-time in Chicago, and the rest of the time in Kentucky (south of Louisville.) I grew up near Chicago, and have lived in New York City, and the West Country of England (in Wells, Somerset to be exact.)

RC patrol

I do some RC patrol using Twinkle and Lupin's Anti-Vandal Tool. I must be doing something right; this user page has been vandalized 17 times so far. If any potential vandals happen to read this before working on my page, I only ask one thing: Please Be Creative.

Est omnino difficile iudicare inclusionis meritum cuiusdam rei in encyclopædia cum ratio sciendi quid populi referat incerta sit, sed nihilominus aliquid encyclopædiam dedecet

It is generally difficult to judge the worthiness of a particular topic for inclusion in an encyclopedia considering that there is no certain way to know what interests people, but some topics nevertheless are not fit for an encyclopedia.

This motto reflects the desire of these Wikipedians to be reluctant, but not entirely unwilling, to remove articles from Wikipedia.
