The Journal of Southern African Studies is an international publication which produces academic and scholarly pieces of writing on the Southern African region. Publishing four times a year, the journal was in its 34th edition as of October 2008.

The region covered focuses on Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe; and occasionally, Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Madagascar and Mauritius.[1]
