Thế hệ 9X (literally meaning 9X Generation, often referred to simply as 9X) is a Vietnamese term used to describe people born during the 1990s.[1] The usage of 9X was used to refer to both Vietnamese people[2] and people of all cultures born during the 1990s.[3][4] The 9X is the group to be raised with the development of economy, information technology and a lot of events that open Vietnam to the world. They are described as a progressive and rebellious generation[2]: they were more confident than members of older generations, dare to pursue what they want, can use foreign languages much better, and technologies, especially the Internet, are an important part of their life; they are also willing to reject established traditions, ignore elder class values, listen to Western music, and follow foreign fashion trends and life styles.[2]
