Saudi Arabia coach Gabriel Calderon described qualifying to Germany 2006 as ‘a dream come true’ as his side’s 3-0 win over Uzbekistan ensured that the three-time Asian champions will appear at their fourth consecutive World Cup finals. “Qualifying to the World Cup is the dream of every coach and I’m more than satisfied with our campaign in the qualifiers,” the 45-year-old said following the impressive win in Riyadh. Saudi Arabia’s victory before a capacity 75,000 fans at the King Fahd International Stadium on Wednesday saw the Arab Kingdom become Asia’s fourth side to reach Germany 2006 after Japan, Iran and Group A rivals Korea Republic. “I’m very happy with the qualification since that was the goal I was aiming at when I first arrived in the Kingdom,” said the Argentine who was appointed as Saudi head coach last November.
