Irina Godunova was the wife of Tsar Fedor Ivanovich (r. 1584-1589) and the sister of Tsar Boris Godunov (r. 1589-1605).
Upon the death of her husband, she retired to the Novodevichii Monastery (Convent) on the south side of Moscow. It was here that Boris Godunov was asked to become tsar.
