Halogenoalkanes are alkane-like compounds with one or more hydrogen atoms replaced by (a) halogen atom(s). Fluoroalkanes, chloroalkanes, bromoalkanes and iodoalkanes are possible, as are mixed compounds such as chlorofluoroalkanes (also known as chlorofluorocarbons - the notorious CFCs responsible for ozone depletion) etc.
