The Library and Information Technology Association LITA is a division of the American Library Association ALA the oldest library association in the world. LITA became a division of ALA in 1966 in response to the changing technological environment in libraries. Originally called the Information Science and Automation Division, the name was changed in 1978 to the Library and Information Technology Association. LITA is headquartered in the Chicago ALA offices. Mary Taylor is the current LITA executive director (CEO).
