Vlakplaas
Vlakplaas is a farm that served as the headquarters of a counterinsurgency unit working for the apartheid government in South Africa. The counterinsurgency unit was officially designated C1 but became known as Vlakplaas and was commanded by Eugene de Kock.
C1 captured political opponents of the apartheid government and either "turned" (converted) or executed them. Vlakplaas was the site of multiple executions of political opponents of the apartheid government. [1]
