Adnan Hussain (born July 1989)[2] is the Member of Parliament for Blackburn, elected as an independent.
Early life
Hussain attended Mansfield High School and studied a Bachelor of Laws degree at the University of Central Lancashire.[1]
Career
Hussain was admitted as a solicitor in August 2022. He is a director at Bank View Solicitors in Blackburn, Lancashire.[3][4]
Political career
In 2014, Hussain spoke at a "Free Palestine" rally in Bradford when he stated that Israel's military operation that year was a "holocaust" and he called for Israel to "burn." In 2024, the Community Security Trust condemned his remarks, stating that the "sight in recent months of parts of Israel literally burning at the hands of Hamas terrorists and under Hezbollah rocket bombardments shows just what this slogan means in practice."[5]
2024 general election
In the 2024 United Kingdom general election, Hussain beat the incumbent Kate Hollern of the Labour Party.[6] Hussain's election campaign had a focus on the Israel–Hamas war.[7] He had only decided to stand when the election was called.[8]
