Needs pictures

Of a living Yukon wolf. Just having a pelt is kind of pathetic.Cliffswallow-vaulting (talk) 10:20, 9 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Long details

[edit]

This article doesn't need long details, as this "subspecies" is simply a synonym of C. l. occidentalis: northwestern wolf, place the biology, behavior, and relationships with humans details over to that article instead. Editor abcdef (talk) 10:55, 16 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like many of the references here refer specifically to C. l. pambasileus, so I'm not sure it's necessarily appropriate to transfer some of it to another article like that of C. l. occidentalis. Also, though it's considered a synonym by US Fish and Wildlife, it sound like it's not by others, and we have to represent a WP:GLOBALIZED point of view for topics here. But if it's the case that you think that material should be moved, did you intend to move it, or did you think it should be removed entirely? I notice that it hasn't been moved. Please don't simply revert back, as that version is full of errors, instead, if vital information are needed, paste it here, instead of copying the whole erroneous article. Editor abcdef (talk) 03:52, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This "subspecies" is simply NOT a synonym of C. l. occidentalis according to Wozencraft in MSW3, and as this article is badged as being part of WikiProject Mammals then that is where we take our classification advice from, not the USFWS. Title of the article

[edit]

From my reading, it would appear that Canis lupus pambasileus is referred to as the "Yukon wolf" by Canadian authorities and the "interior Alaskan wolf" by US authorities, would this be correct? If so, then the lead needs to reflect this. Regards, William Harris • (talk) • 10:04, 16 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Move proposal

[edit]

Before we start, I state that I am an Australian who has visited both Canada and Alaska, so I have no national interest in the following proposal.

  1. In 1905, the American zoologist Daniel Elliot classified a wolf from the Susitna River, Mount McKinley region, Alaska as Canis pambasileus - "autocrat timber wolf"
  2. In 1944, the American zoologist Edward Goldman reclassified this wolf as Canis lupus pambasileus Elliot, 1905 and with the name "Interior Alaskan wolf".
  3. The wolf can be found in both Alaska and the Yukon.
  4. Although the Government of Canada has referred to this wolf as the "Yukon wolf" in some publications, I cannot find a taxonomic authority for this name. The Canadian government is not a taxonomic authority.

Therefore, I propose a move of this article from Yukon wolf to Interior Alaskan wolf. I will wait a week to receive feedback from other editors. William Harris • (talk) • 11:00, 7 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I support this. Mariomassone (talk) 10:33, 11 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The proposed move is now completed. William Harris • (talk) • 09:33, 14 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

"Rabies" and "distemper"

[edit]

Wolves and domestic dogs occasionally get "mad" or angry or in a "bad mood" especially when being hunted for sport by law enforcement officials or in similar situations --- but "rabies" and "distemper" as actual specific viral diseases are urban legends or wolf-themed Halloween scares propagated by students who have failed out of human medical schools. —justinacolmena (talk) 05:38, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Weights

[edit]

The conversion is full of errors. 56.2 kg do not equals 111 lbs, 105 lbs isn't 52.6 kg, etc. To be revised Gimly24 (talk) 23:29, 4 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
