I'm confused - is "Humorous Phases" the first animated film or not? The article states "In fact the first pictured movie was from Frenchman Émile Reynaud," but also "General consensus dictates that Humorous Phases is the earliest known example of animation of any kind." Is the "general consensus" phrase doing a "some people say?" If there is ambiguity or debate over whether Humorous Phases is the first animated film, could that be explained a little?--Orkadelthia (talk) 13:51, 30 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, this note in another wikipedia page states that's the first one. ^ a b Jeff Lenburg 1991 The Encyclopedia of Animated Cartoons ISBN 0-8160-2252-6 The page I've taken it from is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animation_in_the_United_States_during_the_silent_era — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.13.89.89 (talk) 17:26, 27 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
