Zhu Yangzhu (Chinese: 朱杨柱; born September 1986[2]) is a Chinese pilot and astronaut selected as part of the Shenzhou program. He enlisted in the People's Liberation Army (PLA) in September 2005, and joined the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in December 2006.[3]
Biography
Yangzhu was born in Pei County, Jiangsu, in September 1976. He was a Postdoctoral researcher at National Institute of Defence Technology.[4] He is a fourth-level astronaut in the Astronaut Corps of the Chinese People's Liberation Army and has the rank of colonel in the army. He used to be an associate professor at the Aerospace Engineering University of the Strategic Support Force. In September 2020, as an aerospace flight engineer, he was selected in third taikonaut group. In June 2022, he was selected as the crew for the manned mission of Shenzhou 16, which launched on May 30, 2023.[5][3]
