Rosemarie Bryan
Rosemarie M. Bryan is the Canadian community worker and the founder of Operation H.O.P.E organisation, based in Jamaica. She was briefly a Toronto City Counsellor for Ward 1.
Early life and education
Born in 1966[1] in Manchester, England and emigrated to Canada the same year.[2] She was the youngest of seven siblings and the daughter of of Bishop and Pastor.[2]
She studied Law Enforcement Studies at Humber College and completed a student placement at Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada in their Enforcement Unit.[2][3]
Career and volunteering
As of 2022, Bryan was a community and family services coordinator for the The Salvation Army based at their Etobicoke Temple, having joined the organization as a secretary.[4][2]
She is the founder of Operation H.O.P.E. (Helping Other People in Need) organization based in Jamaica. She worked with children living in the Orphanages across the Island. Todate, she has shipped down over 4000 toys, 150 hospital beds, medical supplies, school supplies and various types of food and clothing.
Bryan won the Spirit of Etobicoke award in 2020, an initiative created by Doug Ford and Kinga Surma.[5]
She has served on the board of directors of Rexdale Women Board, Rexdale Outreach Choir, Toronto Outreach Choir and the Toronto Police Service Youth Planning Committee.[2]
She is a Christian Certified Chaplain.[2]
Views
In 2004 Bryan was concerned about youth crime in Etobicoke and the lack of police response to it.[3]
Personal life
Her mother died of diabetes in June 2006.[1]
She lives in Etobicoke.[2]
