C60, C.60, or C-60 may refer to:Buckminsterfullerene is an allotrope of carbon containing cluster of 60 carbon atom joined together to form a spherical molecules. Since there are 60 carbon atoms in a molecule of buckminsterfullerene so its formula is C60 (C-60) buckminsterfullerene is a football shaped is spherical molecule in which 60 carbon atom are arranged in interlocking of hexagonal pentagonal rings of carbon atom there are 20 hexagon and 12 Pentagon of carbon atom in one molecule of buckminsterfullerene this allotrope was named buckminsterfullerene after the American architect Buckminster fuller because its structure resemble the framework of dome shaped hall design by the fuller for large international exhibitions.

        buckminsterfullerene is a dark solid at room temperature. It differ from the other two allotropes of carbon diamond and graphite in the fact that diamond and graphite are joint molecule which consists of an unending network of carbon atom, but buckminsterfullerene is a small molecule made up of only 60 carbon atom. if we burn backminsterfullerene in oxygen then only carbon dioxide is formed and nothing is left behind this so that buckminsterfullerene is made up of carbon only. diamond is extremely hard whereas graphite is soft. On the other hand buckminsterfullerene is neither very hard or soft.
