Mashrur Arefin (born 9 October 1969) is a Bangladeshi poet, novelist, writer and banker.[1][2][3] He is known for his translation of Homer’s Iliad and Franz Kafka’s stories, and his novels, August Abchchaya (2019) and Althusser (2020.[3][4][1] He is the managing director and chief executive director (CEO) of The City Bank Limited.[5] He received the BRAC Bank-Samakal Literary Award for his translation of Franz Kafka’s stories in 2013.[5]

Life and career

Born in Barishal, Arefin was educated at Barishal Cadet College, the University of Dhaka University and Victoria University, Melbourne.[5] As a banker since mid-1990s, he has served many banks.[5]
