'''Snehana''' is an oleation therapy in [[Ayurveda]]. It is a [[Preoperative care|preoperative]] or ''purva karma'' process of Panchakarma. In the ''Sabdastoma-mahaanidhi'', snehana means only external application of fatty substances on the body, but in Ayurveda it is often used to mean internal administration of fats.<ref>https://www.researchgate.net/publication/269112486_Unction_Snehana_-_An_Overview</ref> It is also given importance in surgery (''salya'') and head and neck treatment (''saalaakya'').
