Snehana is an oleation therapy in Ayurveda. It is a preoperative or purva karma process of Panchakarma. In the Sabdastoma-mahaanidhi, snehana means only external application of fatty substances on the body, but in Ayurveda it is often used to mean internal administration of fats.[1] It is also given importance in surgery (salya) and head and neck treatment (saalaakya).
