Tynt Meadow Trappist Ale is a top-fermented British Trappist beer with an alcohol content of 7.4%. The beer is brewed in the Trappist Mount St Bernard Abbey in Leicestershire.

Background

On 6 March 2017, the abbey of Mount St Bernard near Coalville, joined the International Trappist Association.[1] In 2017-2018 a brewery was built in the abbey and from 9 July 2018 Tynt Meadow Trappist Ale, a dark beer, was released to the market.

On 17 September 2018, the beer received the official Authentic Trappist Products label and became the twelfth official Trappist beer.[2]

St Bernard could not be used as the name of the product due to the rights being assigned to the preexisting Belgian St. Bernardus Brewery. It was decided to name the beer after Tynt Meadow where the history of the abbey began.[3]
