Gunnar Bergby

Gunnar Bergby (born 28 August 1947)[1] is a Norwegian civil servant and jurist. He is the Secretary-General of the Supreme Court of Norway.

Career

He was born in Oslo, and graduated with the cand.jur. degree in 1974. In 1975, he served as a research assistant at Aarhus University, after which he was hired as a consultant in the Norwegian Ministry of Transport and Communications.

He then occupied the following positions:

- Higher executive officer, Equal Status Council, 1977-79

- Head of division, Equal Status Ombudsman, 1979-86

- Deputy Judge, Strømmen District Court, 1984-85

- Town Clerk of Oslo, 1986-89

- Chief Judge of the Court of Probate, Bankruptcy and Enforcement in Oslo, 1989-94

Since 1994, he has been the Secretary General of the Supreme Court of Norway.
