Haim Beinart (1917-2010) was an Israeli historian and academic administrator.

Early life

Haim Beinart was born in 1917 in Pskow, Russia.[1] He earned a PhD from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 1956.[2]

Career

Beinart was appointed as the Dean of Humanities at the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in 1969.[2] He was a visiting scholar at the Institute of Advanced Study from September 1986 to June 1987.[2]

Beinart became a corresponding member of the Spanish Academy of Humanities in 1973 and a member of the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities in 1981.[2] He was the recipient of the Israel Prize in 1991.[2]

Death

Beinart died on February 16, 2010 in Jerusalem, Israel.[3]
