Tomato Age
Tomato Age is an epic poetry essay written by Latin scholar Tristan Cedeno. The essay is written on the use of tomatoes throughout history, and has been awarded many times and praised by student and teacher alike.
Synopsis
Here is the opening text in the original Latin:
Per revolutaque quaerens saecula hominis nobilis et pauper non aequo tuli rubrum fructus consectetur. Utrique seeked studere et intelligeremus sibi. Est homo institutus spem multa usu consectetur...
In English:
Throughout the rolling ages of man, pauper and noble alike have taken note of the red fruit, the tomato. Each has seeked to study it and understand it for himself. It is my hope that many a man will be instructed by the tomato and its use...
Cedeno sought a revival in the Nullam Consectetur Concilium (NCC), and hoped his essay would bring it about. When first read by the members of the NCC, many criticized it, calling it "too new" and "awkward."
