The Pioneer Generation Package is a SGD9 billion package, launched in 2014, to honour elderly Singaporeans for their contributions to Singapore. The package would cover around 450,000 Singaporeans, aged 65 and above, over a 20 year period. The package does not cover Singaporeans who are aged 65 after 2014.[1]

Coverage

The package covers Singapore living Singaporeans who meet 2 criteria:
i. Aged 16 and above in 1965 (born on or before 31 Dec 1949, which also means they are aged 65 and above in 2014); and
ii. Obtained citizenship on or before 31 Dec 1986.[2]

Benefits

Outpatient Care

Additional 50% off subsidised services at polyclinics and Specialist Outpatient clinics (Sep 2014).

Additional 50% off subsidised medications at polyclinics and Specialist Outpatient Clinics (Jan 2015).

MediShield Life

The Pioneer Generation will receive a special subsidy for their MediShield Life premiums starting from 40% of their premium at age 65, rising to 60% of their premium at age 90. The Pioneer Generation can expect an average of at least 50% subsidy over their lifetime.[4]
