Malik Salar was the fifteenth independent Shah of Shirvan.[1]

Struggle for throne

He was one of youngest sons of Yazid III. He started his rebellion in 1049 and managed to defeat his niece.

Reign

He deposed his niece and rose to throne in 1050. In 1053, Malu castle was rebuilt by him and fought against pagan natives of Dagestan.[2] He died in Şamaxı in 1063. He was married to an unnamed daughter of Abu-l-Aswar Shavur I bin al-Fadl I.
