Revision as of 00:24, 12 June 2013

Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

    Current requests for protection

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Excessive and repeated addition of unsourced material with a fair sprinkling of sockpuppetry to boot... Biker Biker (talk) 00:24, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Pending changes hasn't helped, bunch of IP socks adding the same unsourced statements. JayJayWhat did I do? 22:21, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected with the expiry set to when PC was supposed to expire. Legoktm (talk) 22:26, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary pending changes: spate of "gang" names being added. Martin451 (talk) 21:54, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 3 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Legoktm (talk) 22:17, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Every other edit for the past several weeks is a registered user reverting an unhelpful IP. GabeMc (talk|contribs) 21:48, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protected. Legoktm (talk) 22:16, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – high profile film release attracting IP vandalism and NPOV edits. Darkwarriorblake (talk) 19:35, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Every article by Loubnan (talk · contribs) that was AfD'ed or BLPPROD'ed had those tags removed from them repeatedly by IP's controlled by Loubnan tot he point were most of them had to be protected and Loubnan has been blocked twice for this. This article is no different. Sir Sputnik (talk) 18:50, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Persistent IP vandalism, trolling, and removal of sourced material. Favre1fan93 (talk) 18:34, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: The page is being vandalized on a weekly bases. Requesting a "temporary semi- protection". Just until my team can gather enough information on Larry Tomczak, so everyone can benefit from the page. We want 100% truth on Mr. Tomczak's page and nothing less. User:Gspeas 1:22pm 11, june 2013

Checking to see if protection is necessary. Bearian (talk) 18:31, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Gave final warning to one IP. Bearian (talk) 18:37, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Consider the edit warring noticeboard – This is a case of possible edit-warring by one or two users. User:Gspeas just deleted what I reverted. Bearian (talk) 18:50, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Question: Can another admin check out this page's history? Bearian (talk) 18:53, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
    • (Non-administrator comment) Protection not needed. Rightly declined. Final warning was unnecessary too, a general level 2 warning could be appropriate. The IP's this edit was not a vandalism. What did "semi-official website" mean? Why previous Church's website link is needed in his biographical article? And the "Child abuse lawsuit" was incomplete, needed more citation and details. It is clear, the IP is trying to hide that sensitive section.--TitoDutta 20:30, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protect: Persistent sockpuppetry. Til Eulenspiegel /talk/ 18:06, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

(Non-administrator observation) There's no need of protection because Til Eulenspiegel is forcing irrelevant categories and false accusing for sockpuppetry. --HistorNE (talk) 18:42, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Says the latest sockpuppet account of indefblocked User:Shaushka. Please protect page ASAP. Til Eulenspiegel /talk/ 19:08, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
    False accusations --HistorNE (talk) 19:28, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The only falsehood here is you taking that diff out of context to make it appear as if you got off the hook when you most certainly did not. Stop lying and misrepresenting your block evasion. Til Eulenspiegel /talk/ 19:32, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection for longer than a month: The article has had to have been protected against a vandalising IP-"floater" twice...once for a week, then for a month. Once again, that IP is back and continuing to vandalise. Page needs to be protected for much longer, if not perminantly 88.109.20.138 (talk) 16:36, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry. Hell In A Bucket (talk) 16:10, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

    Jilu Mandarin (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary move protection: Page title dispute/move warring – I have never seen a total mess. First it was proposed three times (two resulted move without hyphen), moved without hyphen, then re-moved without hyphen, and then reverted back.... long story. George Ho (talk) 15:44, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – This was Indefinitely protected, and now that it is not, The page has been vandalized about 1 in every 6 edits. Thus Spake Lee Tru. 13:24, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – a POV user with dynamic IP is duplicating content in article. One week of protection is enough. Vigyanitalkਯੋਗਦਾਨ 12:56, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring – I would like to request the restoration of this revision and full protection of this article until this AfD closes. Some users are continuously removing the contents of the article just to justify the existence of Persecution of Biharis in Bangladesh in the AfD which largely overlaps with Stranded Pakistanis. Zayeem (talk) 12:02, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

    • Comment This is not eligible. Pointless request. Not a noticeboard where you are asking to restore a revison. That has been under discussion at the talk of the article, and an AfD. Faizan 12:07, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I've asked you to not remove the contents before the AfD closes but you are still removing them. Hence, the revision prior to the beginning of the AfD should be restored and should be fully protected until the AfD closes.--Zayeem (talk) 12:15, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I am concerned with the protection here. Not interested in tales. Faizan 15:27, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
    • (Non-administrator comment) Edit warring among auto-confirmed editors is a legitimate reason to fully protect a page for a short period. If it is requested to restore a particular version before fully protect the article, that might need consensus. --TitoDutta 20:37, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Fully protected for a period of 10 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Legoktm (talk) 22:19, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism from different IPs. User has been warned before but continues to revert edits without explanation. CoolingGibbon (talk) 02:08, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Serial vandalism by IP-hopping sock. Federales (talk) 02:00, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please clarify what sock. Materialscientist (talk) 03:05, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Declined, I'm not seeing the socks, and there are also constructive IP edits. Legoktm (talk) 22:24, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Page has been the target of serial BLP violations by what appears to be an IP-hopping sock of blocked editor User:AmericanDefender. Related article Edward Snowden was already semi-protected because of this same issue. Federales (talk) 00:17, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Page recently unprotected and IP vandals are back. Please protect until 1 July. JMHamo (talk) 22:21, 10 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Change wars. Aldero (talk) 20:42, 10 June 2013 (UTC) Aldero June, 2013[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Nothing but IP vandalism and the reverting of it. With the exception of one letter having been fixed, article is back where it was 5-1/2 weeks ago (33 revisions later). For reasons unknown, it is a magnet for IP vandalism. Hertz1888 (talk) 19:47, 10 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protected. Legoktm (talk) 22:27, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Ips have tried to frequently adjust the no of seats of lok sabha wrt each terrirtory especially under the section Composition of states and territories. In fact at one occasion, i had to revert to old revision due to several ips involved in vandalism by just tweaking the numbers without assigning any reason. Suri 100 (talk) 13:44, 10 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection. Persistent vandalism and edit war. AndrewrpTally-ho! 21:17, 9 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: high level of IP edits at the moment hard to keep track on and removal of vital information going on.--BabbaQ (talk) 20:09, 9 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

DeclinedPages are not protected preemptively. If vandalism continues, or breaks out into a full edit war, post this again. Bearian (talk) 18:48, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection. Venezuelans keep changing Guyana's map to reflect a completely outdated Venezuelan territorial claim to 2/3 of Guyana's territory. the7businessUser talk:the7business 10 June 2013 (UTC)

    Current requests for unprotection

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
