Yaariyaan is a college-based romantic and adventurous film directed by Divya Khosla Kumar,[1] starring Himansh Kohli and Rakul Preet Singh in the lead roles. The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar under the banner of Super Cassettes Industries Ltd. The film is to be released tentatively around July 2013.

The movie marks the debut of the director [2] as well as the lead star cast.

Synopsis

Yaariyaan is a story about five friends set in the campus in Darjeeling will take you to their journey in campus, love, competition and friendship. Yaariyaan is a movie of bonding between friends and love for your school and country.

This is a contemporary young film that takes you through your school days and reminisces the best years of your life.

Production

Development

Early 2012, Bhushan Kumar made the announcement of making the then untitled movie on college romance genre that will mark the debut of director Divya Khosla Kumar. Soon, an announcement was released that the star cast of the film will also comprise of new comers Himansh Kohli[3] (last seen in TV show Humse hai Life) and south actress Rakul Preet Singh. This movie will bring to the industry new director and new young star cast, including Bollywoods rising starlet half-German half-Indian beauty Evelyn Sharma[4] to play an angelic dream girl. The movie also has senior actors like Gulshan Grover[5] and Deepti Naval[6] play important characters in the movie.

During the pre production stage, news was released on the locales to be used in the movie. The director has chosen unexplored and virgin locations in Sikkim.

The title of the movie ‘Yaariyaan’ was registered with Saif Ali Khan[7] (for the movie Cocktail) who gladly gave away the rights to his friend Bhushan Kumar to use for this film.

The movie is planned to be released by March or April 2013.

Soundtrack

The soundtrack for the film will be composed by Pritam and lyrics are by Irshad Kamil. The duo gave huge hits in the past and this movie too makes the music its USP.
