Kongad is a medium-sized town in Palakkad district in the South Indian state of Kerala, and is 20 km north-west of Palakkad town. Nearby towns include Karimpuzha in the west, Mannarakkad in the north, Mundur in the east and Lakkidi and Mankara in the south.

The nearest airport is at Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu state. Palakkad Junction Railway Station is the nearest railhead.

Kongad Thirumandhamkunnu Bhagavathy Kshetram is the major attraction. The temple neighbourhood has been home to quite a few reputed classical arts exponents like Kathakali exponent Kalamandalam Vasu Pisharody and musician Kottakkal Madhu, besides Panchavadyam stalwarts like late Kongad Vijayan and the Kongad Madhu.

It was only a Special Grade Gram panchayat till last Legislative Assembly; but from the 2011 Legislative Assembly Election, it became the Constituency for the State Elections. In the inaugural elections (held in May 2011), K V Vijayadas of CPI(M) won by a margin of 3,565 compared to his immediate rival P Swaminathan of Indian National Congress.Election results - by Chief Election Commissioner, Kerala
