Coundon is an old mining village in County Durham, England. The Boldon Book mentions a mine in Coundon in the twelfth century.

The name Coundon comes from its original name, "Cunadun", which translates as "cow on a hill".[1] Coundon is well know to the community in Bishop Auckland as the scabby rough town where all the 'pikeys' live. Many people believe Coundon is Perfect however, if you were ever to visit there you would know that that's a load of Bull.
