Entrevías (literally, Between-Railroad) is a ward (barrio) in the district of Puente de Vallecas, in the southeastern portion of Madrid (Spain). Named after the fact of the neighborhood surrounded by railroad tracks in every way.

According to the National Institute of Statistics of Spain, the population of Entrevías in 2006 was 37,790.

Road communication

  • From the ring road M-30, take the exit at Méndez Álvaro and if you go by the M-30 north (in the sense of clockwise) by the shift to the right (Avenida de Entrevías). Where to go for the M-30 south (counter clockwise), take the exit to Méndez Álvaro, take the left turn there is a roundabout.
  • From the ring road M-40, take the turning to the Avenida de la Albufera, go to the center of the city to Pablo Neruda Street. Turn left. Then through the tunnel that passes under the railway. Turn on a roundabout at the first exit to the right.
  • From the Autovía A-3, join the M-40 and follow the step above.

Railway communication

Two stations located along the Avenida de Entrevías serve the neighborhood, both service lines C-2 and C-7 suburban Madrid.

Holidays and festivals

There are two annual festivals:

  • The first marks the day of St. Isidore the Laborer, May 15th. It's common to a meeting at Sierra Contraviesa Street.
  • The second, the Feast of Carmen (also called the Feast of Karmela), has been taking place between the last week of June and early July, taking place in the Trees Park ("Parque de los Arbolitos") next to the Auditorium.

Places

Entrevías has, since the 70s, one of the biggest parks in Madrid and also another beautiful park promenade built in the late XX century and early XXI century, called 'Entrevías Soto Park. In the latter there are two lakes, various types of plants identified properly and varied acompñadas rock, plus an incredible view from the top of appreciable Mountain Park, located it, in turn, on the Soto Park. In 1999, the railway station was renamed "Entrevías", becoming known as "Asamblea de Madrid-Entrevías", because they are close to the recent location of the Madrid Assembly. It was resolved the surroundings of the station as had been expressed to the neighbors by official institutions, as a connection between the two sides of the railroad tracks that surround the neighborhood, but acquired a new dimension outside noticeable from quite a distance. Was performed on top of a suggestive garden station whose best attribute is to provide a viewpoint on Madrid Sur, next, and the city of Madrid to the other.
