Skudenes is a former municipality in Rogaland county, Norway.
The parish of Skudesnæs was established as a municipality January 1, 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt).
In 1849 the district Bukken with 1,035 inhabitants was separated from Skudenes to form a municipality of its own. The split left Skudenes with a population of 5,044.
on February 12 1858 the town Skudeneshavn with 1,209 inhabitants was separated from Skudenes, constituting a municipality of its own. The split left Skudenes with a population of 5,044 (again!). On January 1 1892 the same thing took place with the town Åkra with 1,962 inhabitants, which left Skudenes with a population of 2,732.
On January 1 1965 Skudenes was merged with Avaldsnes, Kopervik, Skudeneshavn, Stangaland, Torvastad and Åkra to form the new municipality Karmøy.
