The Soundwave Festival (not to be confused with the UK Soundwave Festival) is a music festival held in Australia, firstly touring outside of Perth in 2007, which featured a number of Australian & International acts, mostly from the punk/hardcore/rock/pop genres.

The festival (in 2007) was held in three cities across Australia:

  • Riverstage, Brisbane, on February 24
  • Sydney Park, Newtown, Sydney, on February 25
  • Robinson Pavillion & Claremont Showgrounds, Perth, March 3

The large gap between the second and third days of the festival was to allow the bands attending to play sideshows in other major Australia cities; namely Adelaide and Melbourne.

History

The Australian Soundwave Festival originated as a smaller festival within the G Fest or Gravity Games, which are held in Perth, Western Australia every year.

2007 was the first year that it has expanded to play in different cities and actually form a festival of its own, yet still incorporating the city where it gained its roots - Perth.

Many of the artists below including MxPx and Unwritten Law have previously played at the Soundwave Festival when it was apart of the Gravity Games, and have now continued to support it through its growth.

Lineup

The 2007 lineup of acts who appeared at each show is as follows:
