Dear Friends,

I have spent a short time on Wikipedia, but nonetheless a very joyous time. I feel that it is time for me to move on with life. I thank you all for becoming such a special part of my life. Perhaps, I shall return under another account someday. I request that my userpage not be changed, nor my talk page. hi TRE, just wanted to let you know i've filed a report here about an account that you blocked, I think it's the same user creating multiple accounts, who has already had an IP blocked that was responsible for a previous rash of admin-bashing usernames. if you've seen any other username accounts recently that are spoofing administrators, i encourage you to add them to the report. thanks! ~Eliz81(C) 21:51, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

greek challenge

oh what an evil one! I am stuck and resorted to Liddell and Scott, but I think it comes from sugchaipw- to rejoice with- then sugchareite (don't know how to do the greek font but it looks like what you put and it is the 2nd plural aorist or 2nd passive subjunctive of the above. then the -ia is the hard bit- maybe a sort of state of being? So-

you (plural) were in a state where you rejoiced with, or you might be in a state where you are rejoiced with. (aorist of completed action in the present tense.) Phew! do tell me the answer :)

I don't know how to write in the Greek font yet or I would challenge you:)

Hello there!

Hello! (I'm wondering what I can call you, for "short", do people call you "TRE"? Hee hee.) I noticed that you archived WP:RFCN today, and I thought perhaps you had not seen this discussion, which ended in the consensus of "Discussions are to normally run for at least 24 hours before being closed, and then archived after another 24 hours.", due to some concerns that not everyone may have seen them, even though they may have been speedily closed. Granted, the Rebel one had been up there a significant amount of time, and the Jesus one was speedily closed because user agreed to change, but I just wasn't sure if you knew that routinely they're left up for a day or two, I hope you don't take this wrong, as I mean no disrespect, I just had not seen you close any before, so I thought perhaps I'd let you know about that. Hello, Can you please consider permanantly semi-protecting it, as it is constantly being vandalised by anonymous users, especially Newcastle United F.C. fans. --Sunderland06 21:21, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, I've noticed your work at GA, so I thought I'd drop a note about this AfD. I'd recommend you talking a close look at the references and claims made in this article. Hi again. I've rewritten the lead so the article is now self-consistent. However, the claims are still unverified and he doesn't seem very notable. Can you have another look at the article and see what you think? All the best Tim Vickers 19:10, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please unblock me

I'm not VinceB, so please unblock me. I had to create that account to be able to communicate with you only, but unlike VinceB, I have a fix IP address. I respected Wikipedia policies, so I don't understand why you had to immediately indef(!) block me without at least having a chance to email you.
That was not Tankred's first accusation with bad intention (see Checkuser) and now he is angry, because I asked for an RFC on including the Benes decrees in the article Slovakia in which he is involved (see his comments at Talk:Slovakia).
Please at least give me your email address or let my REAL account communicate with you so I can get rid of this fake account. That is not me. If I was VinceB, don't you think I'd just create another sockpuppet instead of fighting for an account? Frankly, it's pretty bizarre and strange when you are being accused of being someone you are not. Everytime Tankred does not like someone's editing, he accuses him of being VinceB.
Please check ALL my contributions and not just the ones mentioned by Tankred. And if you decide to unblock me, please mention in the edit summary it was just a mistake. Thank you. "Economics" article request for semi-protection

Hello, TRE. Thank you for acting on the above. I left a request of clarification at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection, but you might not be able to respond to it there before it is archived. In any case, could you instead consider looking at a copy of it on my Talk page at User talk:Thomasmeeks#"Economics" article request for semi-protection (with any added comments I can get in there before that)? Thank you. P.S. I read your User page -- all of it. I believe that I am writing the right person, though I am not given to premature optimism. --Thomasmeeks 10:12, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your reply. Indeed you did semi-protect. I regret not being more explicit at User talk:Thomasmeeks#"Economics" article request for semi-protection. Would consider taking another look there? I have added another note (dated 19:15, 26 September 2007) to try to clarify. My thanks. --Thomasmeeks 19:36, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, again. Interesting idea. What would you think of this refinement: to see whether or how long it would be before vandalism returned to high levels, say over a 2-week period or 50 Edits, whichever came first? 2-weeks or 50 edits (a provisional number) has the advantage of a reasonable sample size or time period, rather than depending on a possibly temporary lull or surge of vandalism vs. good Edits.
If semi-protection returns (which you would determine), I could write up the result for the Talk page. There are already 2 data points for this article as to removing semi-protect in Spring 2007. In the first case, it did not take long for the previous rate of vandalism to return. In the 2nd case, which was close to the end of the Spring semester, my impression is that vandalism did not return to previous levels until late August, possibly because of the school break. While an immediate extension of semi-protect would have been nice, the knowledge gained from this little experiment might help the article as to guidance for future semi-protect & be of wider interest. My thanks. --Thomasmeeks 22:10, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Squash Racket

Hi. You have unblocked User:Squash Racket upon his request. In his request, he has accused me of many things that were not true, but I was not able to respond because he kept deleting all my comments.[2][3][4] I am still completely confident this is a sockpuppet of VinceB and this opinion is supported also by other users.[5][6]

As to his accusations against me: VinceB has fought against all his blocks and against blocks of his other sockpuppets in the same way, so I am not surprised that he is trying to attack me for reporting him again. This block has nothing to do with the article Benes decrees and that article was not even included in the great amount of evidence I presented at Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/VinceB (4th). My recent edit mentioned by Squash Racket was perfectly in line with the prevailing custom of deleting contributions of blocked sockpuppets. I believe this practice demonstrates to banned sockpuppetmasters futility of their attempts to return to Wikipedia. As for warnings, history of Squash Racket's talk page stores numerous warnings from various users (not only from me). Squash Racket has deleted them all and now claims to be never warned.

As to his arguments: 1. There is no "debate going on how to apply historical Hungarian names for Slovakian places". He is the only user (apart from VinceB and his previously blocked sockpuppets) who constantly violates the convention (WP:NCGN) about this issue. 2. He did not challenge anyhow the fact that only he and an IP of VinceB's range have tried to delete any reference to Slovaks from the series of articles I mentioned at Suspected sock puppets/VinceB (4th). 3. He did not explain similarities between his and VinceB's style of communication and editing patterns.

The most recent Checkuser results give some limited evidence, but are generally inconclusive (see User_talk:Chaser#Squash_Racket). In this context, I would like to note that VinceB has used three different IP ranges (195.56., 91.120., and 84.236.) even while he was still active under his own name. Moreover, he could easily change an ISP since his ban in April.

I hope there is still a chance you will reconsider your decision. Tankred 21:56, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There is a "debate going on how to apply historical Hungarian names for Slovakian places" as Tankred knows very well. This debate was going on since months until Tankred presented the convention (WP:NCGN) together with his own interpretation on the Hungarian notice-board. According to that it is not possible to use Hungarian names even in historical context. I always protested against this interpretation and other Hungarian users did the same. The topic is not Squash Racket's own mania at all. Zello 22:20, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You protested, but you have never made any edit violating WP:NCGN. You have publicly admitted that the convention is as it is, although you do not like it. I can provide a diff for your own words if you want. Although there are several other users who do not like WP:NCGN, only Squash Racket and VinceB have been openly violating it. It is just pure coincidence, I guess. And the same is true for all other similarities between them, right? Tankred 22:49, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I made many edits "violating" WP:NCGN similarly to other Hungarian users and I will make. Obviously I'm not violating the convention but I disregard your interpretation. Other users already pointed out that even this version of the convention allows Hungarian names (in spite of your best efforts). So the debate is still on and there is no difference between Squash Racket's behaviour and others, including mine, except that the topic is more important for him and he is no so tired with debating as me. Zello 22:55, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am afraid you are contradicting yourself while saying 'I made many edits "violating" WP:NCGN' and 'I'm not violating the convention'. What I see is isolated activity of VInceB and later of Squash Racket - not a war between Hungary and the rest of the Wikipedia. But this was only one of the similarities between Squash Racket and VinceB. Anyway, I think the owner of this talk page will consider this discussion a spam, so feel free to use my talk page if you want to continue in this discussion. Tankred 23:40, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You certainly know the meaning of this punctuation mark: "...". But yes it would be spam to continue. Zello 23:46, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, looks like I undid a rev while you were in the middle of protecting/editing the article. Hope I didn't mess things up too bad. ||| antiuser 22:37, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
