Stuntman Ignition is an upcoming sequel to the video game Stuntman for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PSP, and PlayStation 2. On May 10, 2006, it was announced that THQ had acquired the rights to the Stuntman franchise from original publishers Atari. Also announced was that Paradigm Entertainment are currently developing the game for next-generation platforms. On September 29, 2006, THQ spoke about the game for the first time to Xbox 360 Gamer,[1] who also ran an exclusive preview of the game in issue 16 of the magazine. An Xbox 360 demo was released on the Xbox Live Marketplace on July 12, 2007.

Gameplay

The game will feature six fictional movies, five of them being Aftershock (a disaster movie in the vein of Dante's Peak and Volcano), Overdrive (a 70s cop thriller set in San Francisco) , Strike Force Omega (a post-apocalyptic action movie directed by a former stuntman), "Never kill me again" (an action movie set in the backdrop of snowy mountains) and Whoopin and a Hollerin' II (the sequel to the eponymous movie from the previous game). Each movie will have six scenes, the goal being to complete objectives set out by the director in each scene. The way you completes tasks are set out a little differently. The basic player will be able to drive through all the levels completing all of the directors stunts to progress onto further levels. However more advanced players will try to link or "string" stunts together to increase his/her stunt multiplier. To acheive a high score you will have to string the director stunts with other maneouvers as well like getting close to objects, drifting around corners or being airborne for example. New to the stuntman series is the "strike" system which is more lenient than the scoring system in the original stuntman. You are allowed to miss up to five director stunts within a scene before the director calls for a reshoot (each miss is indicated by a red cross near the top of the screen). Increasing the score you get increases the rating you get at the end of the scene - ranging from 1 star to five stars. As you progress through the game more movies, side jobs and commercials open up, the difference this time is that you do not have to get 100% to unlock these as in "Stuntman", you merely have to acheive a 3 star ranking for the scenes. There is also a multiplayer available which is simply racing around the backlot of movie sets completing the odd director stunt.
