I have reverted your mainspace move of this article back into draftspace as the AfD discussion closed only 2 weeks ago and the article is practically in the same state. I'd suggest waiting a little while and seeing if any solid references surface which can assert WP:GNG before considering republishing. (Swallowacamel (talk) 09:14, 29 September 2013 (UTC)) Hello Telfordbuck. Kind of new at this so bear with me. Lets just be direct. Saves time. You consider your contribution to wikipedia concerning songs written by willie nelson to be YOUR page not meant for public use? Am I correct in assuming this? Obviously you know that Nelson did not write Bach Minuet in G so I am assuming all your other mistakes are intentional as well. I'll go one further, you "guard" this page making sure that no one else is allowed input. Are you aware that children use wikipedia to do research. My grandchildren in fact. Thats what got me started here. So can you explain why you are doing this? Or do I just need to tell my grandkids not to use wikipedia.[reply]

thank you steve green you may contact me direct at athend7@aol.com

Dealing with consecutive vandalism edits

Hello, when you find consecutive vandalism edits, please revert them rather than undoing them one at a time, to save space in the page history. Graham87 05:58, 28 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Is that when you view the page difference and then revert all vandalism at once even if the vandaliser did it in more than 1 edit themselves? Telfordbuck (talk) 06:57, 28 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. Graham87 09:28, 30 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

WP:MMA

Thanks for helping to make MMA articles on wikipedia better! In September 168 people made a total of 956 edits to MMA articles. I noticed you haven't listed yourself on the WikiProject Mixed martial arts Participants page. Take a look, sign up, and don't forget to say hi on the talk page.

FYI and "goodfaith"

In this edit [1] you reverted an IP as having made "goodfaith" edit.

In the future if you find an IP making edits to Turkish/Ottoman related articles inserting unsourced claims particularly about "circumcised" and relating to the family history, you do not have to "assume" good faith. it is User talk:Dilek2 evading a block. -- The Red Pen of Doom 16:40, 1 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your revert was good (t.y.), but when advising editors, please check for the presence of a template:repeatvandal atop their user talkpage. In such cases, there's no point in giving the customary number of warnings, you can procede directly to wp:AIV. In the report there, it is worth commenting that it is for a schoolip rptv. Cheers, LeadSongDog come howl! 19:26, 2 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That is useful to know, thank you very much Telfordbuck (talk) 19:55, 2 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

IP: 50.74.1.34

Hi, I see that you recently had to undo some vandalism from this IP. I have this guy on my watch list because of an old sockpuppetry case. If you look at this IPs history, it has only made one edit that wasn't immediately reverted [2], every other edit it has made has been reverted as vandalism. I know there's a reluctance here to block IP users, but I think there's a good case to have this one blocked. Any thoughts, and do you know how to go about it? Robman94 (talk) 22:56, 2 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Im my opinion, i dont have any knowledge regarding if the edit that wasnt reverted immediately is factual or vandalism, i look up the john hancock tower and it does have a tuned mass damper so i would leave that one and let someone revert it who has more knowledge. so, as we cant be sure if this edit is vandalism but his others definitely are , i'd give him a final warning and if he does anything else, block him. i hope this helps. Ipswich player updates

Hey Telfordbuck, just a quick message to say thanks and well done for all your updates to the Ipswich Town F.C. players. A thankless task, so I thought I'd reverse the trend and say thanks! Keep up the great work! The Rambling Man (talk) 17:42, 7 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

James Constable

Hi, just letting you know I modified your stats update at James Constable as you included his 2009-10 play-off stats. For whatever reason, Soccerbase have included these in his Oxford league total. Cheers, Mattythewhite (talk) 00:26, 25 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletions

Hello. Not sure how closely you've read about deleting articles by PROD. It's a process that's only supposed to be used for uncontroversial deletions, and not at all for articles that have been PRODded or AfD'd before. See the introduction to WP:Proposed deletion. Godfrey Poku was kept at AfD, and Amjad Iqbal is a full international, so clearly passes the notability guideline for footballers. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 13:31, 8 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies, i didnt think about the international caps!!! Also, i wont use them in future for ones that has already being PRODded or AFDd before. How can i check if they have been through this process before. Thanks, Telfordbuck (talk) 00:34, 9 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
No harm done. If the article was previously kept at AfD, there should be a banner to that effect on its talk page, as at Talk:Ryan McGivern (footballer). Alternatively, when you add the prod tag, it picks up any previous AfD under that article name and highlights it in the tag in big red writing, as was the case at Godfrey Poku. That might not work if the article was AfD'd in a batch nomination, so it may be worth checking out What links here (in the Toolbox in the sidebar on the left), select Wikipedia namespace.

As to previous prods, helpful people add the Oldprodfull template to the talk page when a prod is removed, which adds a banner and puts the page into Category:Past proposed deletion candidates. Only a lot of people, me included, either don't know about it or don't bother. (Note to self: perhaps people who do know about it and still don't bother should try harder...) Otherwise, I think you probably have to check the article history for edit summaries involving "prod", or the history of the creator's talk page.

And, if the article was previously BLP prodded, you are still allowed to propose it for deletion using the ordinary prod. And keep in mind the uncontroversial deletion requirement: if an article deals with someone who might not meet football notability, but the article is of decent length and well sourced, it might well pass WP:GNG, so should be AfD'd rather than Prodded if you think it needs deleting. Hope that's not all too confusing :-) cheers, Struway2 (talk) 09:42, 9 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Updating stats

When updating stats, please ensure that they are correct - in this edit you added an extra game as an IP had updated the stats but not the date. Please also update the 'Career statistics table' where relevant. GiantSnowman 16:16, 16 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

According to soccerbase, http://www.soccerbase.com/players/player.sd?player_id=49314 , mine was correct. Telfordbuck (talk) 18:41, 16 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
So it was, apologies - please use an edit summary confirming so in future. Regards, GiantSnowman 12:24, 17 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hi - please ensure you update the 'Career statistics table' where relevant. I have just done so at Lauri Dalla Valle. Regards, GiantSnowman 21:57, 2 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, sometimes if the stats are majorly out of date i sometimes leave it because i get worried i will mess it up Telfordbuck (talk) 21:59, 2 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Fair point, I suppose it's better to have out-of-date info as opposed to incorrect info. It's not as hard as you might think to update though. GiantSnowman 13:57, 3 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
if i think i can, i most certainly will ! Telfordbuck (talk) 14:14, 3 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nominations

You have to include a solid rationale when nominating articles for deletion, otherwise they will get closed straightaway per WP:SK1 - AfDs such as Rob Smith (footballer) and Neil Young (football manager born 1975) could have been closed in this way. GiantSnowman 17:45, 15 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

steve hall problem

hello telfordbuck. This is the real Prof. Hall. Apparently I am not allowed to delete the pages for myself and Prof. Winlow. We do not wish to be associated with the vandalism, rudeness etc. that appears on our pages and talk pages. Could you or someone else either delete the pages or kindly show me how to submit a request? Thank you in anticipation. --Prof Steve Hall (talk) 21:11, 23 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, i'm not an admin so can't but i will put a tag on the page. Telfordbuck (talk) 21:14, 23 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much indeed.--Prof Steve Hall (talk) 22:17, 23 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

the matter of the AfD request and then the withdraw of the request on the condition that the articles be protected is now being discussed at Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents#Steve_Hall_.28criminologist.29_and_Simon_Winlow_AfD_FUBAR_in_process -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 23:33, 24 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

For some reason your reverting vandalism on the article Canoe came up when I was patrolling using Stiki. Per usual, I opened your history and talk pages. I was pleasantly surprised to find such a constructive editor. Keep up the good work! Andrew327 02:46, 24 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding this - please be careful when tagging articles with CSD, the criteria is very precise and the article you tagged was nowhere near eligible. GiantSnowman 12:48, 9 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

many apologies Telfordbuck (talk) 20:31, 9 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Nominations for deletion

Hi, when nominating articles for deletion (whether by PROD or AfD) please remember to include them in the Nominations for deletion and page moves section at WP:FOOTBALL. Cheers, Mattythewhite (talk) 18:47, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Do i use the code shown here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:FOOTBALL#Nominations_for_deletion_and_page_moves Telfordbuck (talk) 16:37, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Tony Walmsley

You shouldn't just slap a SPEEDY nomination for deletion tag on a genuine good faith article, it needs discussing properly first for consideration as to whether it should be deleted or not. Then when there is some sort of consensus you can properly nominate it for deletion. You're the sort of novice user which could easily get labelled a "deletionist". Regards IJA (talk) 08:25, 16 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, i've decided until i get a better understanding , im going to leave this area alone on focus on updating wikipedia pages and reverting vandalism . Telfordbuck (talk) 10:14, 16 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Andy Bishop

Hi, just so you know you've been adding his two play-off apps into his infobox stats; Soccerbase for whatever reason have recorded them as ordinary League Two games rather than League Two play-off games, meaning they've been included in his league totals. Cheers, Mattythewhite (talk) 18:28, 29 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, thanks for the tip, soccerbase sometimes wind me up with the incorrect names for the pages but what would we do without them!! Telfordbuck (talk) 18:30, 29 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Hector bellerin

Hello. Just to let you know that I've removed the prod on procedural grounds, because the creator of an article is allowed to remove them, and once removed it shouldn't be replaced: see WP:CONTESTED. You may be getting confused with speedy deletion tags, which the creator of an article may not remove. If you take it to AfD, it's good idea to note that the PROD tag was removed and add a link to the creator's argument against deletion on the article talk page. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 12:13, 13 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Released

Hi Telfordbuck, I see you have edited as released some Notts County players can I point out that even though they have been released these players are still under contract with Notts until 1 June 2013, Regards --palmiped |  Talk  16:43, 2 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, is it alright for me to carry on doing what i am doing though? as i have just started doing the oxford lot? Kind Regards, Telfordbuck (talk) 16:47, 2 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Josh Thompson (footballer)

Regarding the article you edited on Josh Thompson (footballer) your removal several correct edits, see these links for verification: East Anglian Daily Times, BBC Sport, Sky Sports

Hi, fair enough about your point but on the bbc sport and sky sports source, in the the score bits at the top of the page, michael smith is given the goal. So its a bit confusing who it is credited with. Telfordbuck (talk) 17:30, 4 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It is a bit confusing I admit, can't find a source that definitively states Thompson was the goalscorer in the title or score summary, but all full reports for the match state Thompson was indeed the scorer. Soccerbase stats being incorrect don't help matters either. Jasonakagary88 (talk) 17:33, 4 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Released

Hello. Just to remind you that a player being "released" normally means that he will leave the club when his contract expires, which in the Football League and Premier League is on 30 June, unless he signs elsewhere in the meantime. If a player is to leave a club immediately, it's usually reported as having his contract paid up, or leaving by mutual consent. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 17:10, 8 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

STiki emergency

Declined speedy on Sam Matthews

Hey, I declined the speedy on Sam Matthews. That he's part of a notable club just barely seems to give him enough notability to where he can't neatly be speedied. I'd probably recommend this going to AfD since I believe that the user would just remove the PROD template if you went that route. I looked to see if the previous deletions were about him, but they were about various other Sam Matthews, so I can't speedy it under anything else. Re: ‎Teams Managed

Per Template:Infobox football biography/doc, the managerclubs parameters should "...not list positions other than team manager (such as assistant or coach positions, or director of football roles where this role is not considered managerial) unless that position is a significant part of the person's career; this will apply primarily to those with significant or perhaps primary experience in management. Clubs listed can be both local and national and should be restricted to those ordinarily considered notable in themselves." Cheers, Mattythewhite (talk) 22:05, 1 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Updating stats

First Danny Rose and now Josh Windass - when updating stats please a) ensure they are accurate; b) update the date paramater using 5 tildes; and c) also update the career stats box if they have one. GiantSnowman 12:41, 27 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Again on Danny Rose (footballer, born 1993) - you have been warned before - if you do it again you will be blocked. GiantSnowman 11:18, 5 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
First of all, I don't appreciate being spoken to in such a rude manner. Secondly, the table was already correct when i went to edit the stats above. Therefore, I left it. You have reverted my correct edit. I don't understand what I would be blocked for? Editing the stats in the bio correctly? Telfordbuck (talk) 17:15, 5 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Your good correction edit

Hi Telfordbuck; Your StIki vandalism correction edit on the page for Poetry in the early 20th century was reverted by the same single purpose and dynamically changing IP-editor. Yesterday they apparently had a field day of cutting and slashing in the article. Since July there have also been ClueBot reverts of this as vandalism. Since you appear to have experience using Stiki, possibly you could glance at the article. MusicAngels (talk) 14:37, 20 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I will take a look for you! Telfordbuck (talk) 16:38, 20 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
If it is useful, the above dynamically changing IP editor has been associated with high probability vandalism by three separate bots, ClueBot, STiki, and system bot for section blanking at the related poetry page:
(cur | prev) 12:27, 10 July 2015‎ ClueBot NG (talk | contribs)‎ m . . (112,972 bytes) (+112,972)‎ . . (Reverting possible vandalism by 64.9.130.42 to version by MusicAngels. False positive? Report it. Thanks, ClueBot NG. (2287478) (Bot)) (undo)
(cur | prev) 22:18, 17 August 2015‎ Telfordbuck (talk | contribs)‎ m . . (111,555 bytes) (-33)‎ . . (Reverted 1 edit by 207.207.28.212 identified as test/vandalism using STiki) (undo)

That activity identified by three bots as vandalism has been continuing for over a month on that page and the IP editor is currently section blanking about the half the article again against the endorsement review of WikiProject and WikiPatrol of the article in its original form. MusicAngels (talk) 14:55, 21 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Your AIV reports

Hi Telfordbuck. An editor needs to have sufficient and appropriate warnings and have to had spammed/vandalized after the last warning. None of your reports so far meet this criteria. One user had one edit and another stopped editing hours ago, after which you warned them and reported them. Appreciate your efforts but reports need to be appropriately made. --NeilN talk to me 01:06, 24 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

How did you determine this was a vandalism only account after one edit? --NeilN talk to me 19:57, 20 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

As an aside you should check what you're reverting before you revert it!, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 18:40, 31 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. VIX/ inaccurately called the "fear index".

VIX is not a measure of "fear": there is no such thing as a measure of fear, except perhaps elevated heart rate.

Mathematically, the VIX computation measures the spread of option prices, thus uncertainty. You can find dozens of articles confirming this statement. Thank you.

About: Information technology in Bangladesh page

Hello, I am Woodpecker1123. I removed the specified information from Information technology in Bangladesh page about the boy "Wasik Farhan Roopkotha" because the information provided is already too controversial. There is enough room for doubt about whether the boy's abilities are exaggerated or not and most probably he is being used for fame seeking purposes by his parents. Besides that for debate's sake even if we assume that the information provided is true: it is no way relevant to the "Information Technology" page of Bangladesh. A single child who is not a part of any organization related to IT sector of Bangladesh or does not have any written code in production has nothing to do with Bangladesh IT sector. This line is most probably an attempt by the same group who are using that child as a cheap way to rise to fame. --Woodpecker1123 (talk) 04:45, 27 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Telfordbuck, I was merely expanding a contraction "don't" into "do not", as per the Wikipedia Manual of Style https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style#Contractions. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.165.137.85 (talk) 22:16, 31 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, when doing so you changed it from don't not to don not, which isn't grammatically correct. However, it was a mistake on my behalf flagging it up as vandalism, rather than a good faith revert. Please accept my apologies. Telfordbuck (talk) 22:20, 31 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

University of New England (Australia)

FYI the edit is adding stand-out stats and reports and is 'constructive' and not 'vandalism' - "UNE has the highest proportion of reported campus sexual assaults in Australia" - as published by a report paid for by Universities Australia and conducted by AHRC. This is what was added, and I think removing such may be considered more disruptive. 121.216.192.249 (talk) 00:25, 2 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Majorities of ex-MPs

Just a heads up – I reverted your edit to Ruth George as it doesn't seem obvious to me that the <majority> parameter of the Infobox officeholder template is only intended for current officeholders. The fact that you can add up to 16 values suggests to me that it's valid to use it to display the majority achieved by individuals whether or not they are still incumbent. It's clear from the infobox for Ruth George that she is no longer an MP, so to me it seems obvious that the "majority" figure is historical. I raised a query to this effect at Template talk:Infobox officeholder. No particular axe to grind, just seeking clarity. Dave.Dunford (talk) 17:11, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I'm afraid I strongly disagree with you. In that space, it is only supposed to be for current MPs or elected officials. They aren't displaying historical majorities, just current ones. This is consistent amongst the hundreds of other wikipedia pages for elected officials. Telfordbuck (talk) 17:47, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I simply can't understand your thinking. A candidate's majority is a matter of historical fact, and useful in understanding their electoral fortunes ("were they in a safe seat, or a marginal?"). Your approach seems like removing valid information for the sake of it. I'm disappointed that you reverted without wider debate. Where is your justification (other than WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS) for your claim that "it is only supposed to be for current MPs or elected officials." Who says so, and if so, why does the template support 16 values? Dave.Dunford (talk) 09:01, 31 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You say in your edit summary "the status quo of removing once an elected politician has left office should stand". How have you determined this "status quo"? Where is it specified? Dave.Dunford (talk) 09:04, 31 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Synthesis

I noticed you added the Green Party to the infobox of Jennie Formby's page. This section of the infobox is for the person's party membership. What's with all the piping?

Hi,

In this edit you manually reverted part of my previous edit by reintroducing unnecessary piped links. WP:NOPIPE, MOS:NOPIPE, and WP:NOTBROKEN all advise against doing this. Because you didn't use an edit summary, I can't guess your reason. Is there something I'm missing?

Best wishes, Jean-de-Nivelle (talk) 19:22, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
Thanks for raising.
I wasn't familiar with the concept of piping so thanks for sending me link. My reasoning when it came to constituencies is that there may be occasions where the constituency name is exactly the same as the name of the place. For example, Telford. That means it would send someone to the page about the place Telford rather than the Parliamentary Constituency.
If you think my logic is completely wrong, I would genuinely love to know to prevent any editing conflicts in the future! Thanks
Telfordbuck (talk) 19:49, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
My take is that piping is fine if it's necessary, and there are times when it isn't strictly necesssary but makes sense anyway, but in general it's "not good practice to pipe links simply to avoid redirects". So in the case of your Telford example, it's fine to write Telford because Telford links to the town, not the constituency, but examples like Harrow East should be written as Harrow East because both parts of the piped link are valid links to the same target page. In general, the simpler the link, the better. Jean-de-Nivelle (talk) 21:09, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Sam Osborne (footballer), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page National League. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
