Speedy deletion nomination of Hykeem Williams

Hello Yankees10,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Hykeem Williams for deletion, because it's a redirect from an article title to a namespace that's not for articles.

If you don't want Hykeem Williams to be deleted, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Greetings Yankee! So when you moved the page to a draft, you left behind a redirect in the article space, which we don’t allow. Next time, you can use this tool to help. - 🔥𝑰𝒍𝒍𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑭𝒍𝒂𝒎𝒆 (𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒌)🔥 10:52, 20 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, Yankees10, I'm hear to drop a note about this draftification. You might look at the page history before you send an article to Draft space. If the creator is a regular content creator or administrator, you might consider dropping a note on their User talk page rather than moving an article to Draft space. I've found that these longstanding editors/admins usually revert a draftication which seems to be a more effective tool for educating new editors who may not know the standards expected for a main space article. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 01:58, 21 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough. I think I'm just done with the drafts anyway. I'll just AFD in the future If I don't believe the article is notable.-- Yankees10 03:52, 21 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Unsourced edit at Rhamondre Stevenson

As far as I can tell, this edit about Stevenson's birthplace is unsourced. You didn't provide any edit summary, can you please explain why you restored unsourced content to a BLP? ––FormalDude (talk) 03:35, 24 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Because it is not a standard or necessity to have a source in the infobox for birthplace. The source that it's Vegas is also in the infobox already.-- Yankees10 03:42, 24 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I wasn't aware that that source verified it. ––FormalDude (talk) 03:45, 24 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

George Iloka

Hi Y10. I mentioned your name within an edit summary on the George Iloka page. Please, let me know if I'm wrong or if I missed something regarding workouts. This is getting worse. Thanks in advance. Bringingthewood (talk) 23:28, 27 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I've asked this user to provide a link numerous times to a discussion that with this "2 year workout" rule and they have yet to provide it.-- Yankees10 23:33, 27 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oh yes, I know you have. I just wanted to throw this out at you, in case you do receive a link from him, please contact me. Before I revert I'm always checking talk pages to see if I missed something. Going forward, if I don't here from you on this matter, I'll revert. Colin K. was put back as free agent again. It's beyond comical. Have a good weekend. Bringingthewood (talk) 02:45, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Will do. You have a good weekend as well.-- Yankees10 05:26, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Why revert

Explain https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Evan_Rodriguez&diff=1182262614&oldid=1182236671 71.206.10.155 (talk) 12:56, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Like I said in the edit summary I highly doubt anyone will be confusing Evan Rodriguez with Ivan. There's no reason to include hatnotes just because they sound somewhat similar.-- Yankees10 15:34, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I ended up on that page because I had it spelling wrong. The edit was valid

Joshua Dobbs

Not that my opinion matters a whole lot around here, I agree with the name of the article being Joshua Dobbs. I am a big fan of the Tennessee Volunteers (bless my heart). I watched Dobbs a lot in college and most forms of media had him as Joshua and he even preferred to be called Joshua. Just my two cents. Red Director (talk) 15:42, 10 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. Unless sources strictly say Josh in the future it should stay at Joshua.-- Yankees10 23:15, 10 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:27, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Player and umpire related?

I see that you have the most recent edit to Lenny Webster, and from your name I assume you are a baseball fan. I noticed that that article and Charlie Williams (umpire) both claim, without a source, that Williams was Webster's uncle. A quick search did not turn up anything to support that, except for things that are likely copied from Wikipedia. Do you know, or can you find out, whether this is true? I see that an IP added that to both articles on July 13, 2017. If this is not true, then that IP's other edits should be examined very closely. 201.220.112.98 (talk) 03:57, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If no source can be found than it probably needs to be removed.-- Yankees10 23:07, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Please be extremely cautious when interacting with this IP. It is a sockpuppet of the globally banned long term abuser Belteshazzar. (See WP:LTA/BTSZ for details.) Belteshazzar has often tried to trick people into helping him with his edits. I have reverted his edits to that article as part of our blanket reversion policy (and because he makes such a massive mess that nobody has time to look at each individual edit when cleaning up after him). If you think that that edit was good, based on your own analysis, then you are welcome to reinstate it. DanielRigal (talk) 12:29, 15 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Disruptive edits

The user has been disruptively editing a lot of baseball pages over the last two days, changing awards names and committee names and official voting numbers without explanation. Respectfully, you don't see that as a problem? Omnis Scientia (talk) 17:12, 16 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

They also added voting figures from back when committee-elected voting numbers were not publically revealed and without any source. Omnis Scientia (talk) 17:15, 16 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
While you rolled back some of my edits by that user, you unintentionally added the wrong committee and awards back which I had removed. Not all of his edits were rounding off voting figures and, in fact, he made up voting figures for back when voting figures were not made public for committee elected figures. Omnis Scientia (talk) 18:13, 16 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This is not disruptive editing just because you don't agree with the edits. They are all considered the Veteran's Committee so I don't see an issue with that. I'm indifferent on the HOF vote percentage as Baesball Ref also has the percentages in the same format this user is changing them to.-- Yankees10 18:16, 16 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
They gave no explanation for why they were making these changes and they did it on multiple pages within a day. Fine, they can round off the figure but why change the name of the committee, and why make up figures for BEFORE voting was made public for committee elections?
Also, with Frank Robinson, they removed the distinction between AL and NL MVPs which is a very significant achievement of his; he's the only one (to date) to do so. Omnis Scientia (talk) 18:25, 16 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
See my edit summary for Frank Robinson.-- Yankees10 18:29, 16 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Also, reporting this user at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents is absurd honestly. You didn't even try to discuss your disagreements with the person and went straight to reporting them just because you disagree with their edits. That's not how Wikipedia works, these edits are in no way vandalism or disruptive.-- Yankees10 18:29, 16 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry you disagree but I don't think it is absurd. They could at least add an edit summary instead of doing whatever they want, whenever they want. And I did message them on their talk page as well and wanted to wait before noticing they added unsourced voting figures in quite a few pages.
I also disagree about the names of the committee. They may be considered Veterans committees but they are not called that any more. There are now four different committees, not one committee, and none of them are called Veterans Committee. So why would I add the wrong name in the HOF election method box? Omnis Scientia (talk) 18:41, 16 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Pleaes read Wikipedia:Please do not bite the newcomers. That user's first edit was in early November. They may not fully understand the importance of edit summaries yet. Look, I've wrongfully also jumped on brand new users as well, but I've never felt the need to report them like this. It's over the top. As far as the actual edits on the HOF committees name, you do make good arguments and I lean more towards your opinion on this.-- Yankees10 18:50, 16 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Very well. I'm sorry. It's been a hard day and I may have acted on my emotions in this case. I also didn't know about the Wikipedia:Please do not bite the newcomers or that they were a VERY newcomer. I'll be more careful in the future. Omnis Scientia (talk) 18:58, 16 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Yankees10,

Is there a reason you moved the existing page at this title to Draft space, had the main space redirect page deleted and then recreated the page and creating an article? It seems like a lot of work to go through just to appear to be the article creator. Next time, please just build an article on top of any existing page in main space and don't move pages around. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 01:42, 23 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

A fellow admin just practically did a similar thing with Preston Mattingly so their name appears as the creator. They rightfully deserve the "credit" for creating the article since they wrote all of it and did a great job. I fail to see the difference between what I and the admin did. This has also happened before with re-directs I've created in the past and i've had zero issue with it.-- Yankees10 20:10, 23 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox

Why would this not go in the infobox? It is his current position. Where is the directive that it's best to list past positions in an infobox, but delete the person's current position and current team that he works for? https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Gabe_Kapler&diff=prev&oldid=1193272272 2603:7000:2101:AA00:810D:AC49:F5A3:CDF9 (talk) 01:01, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

An opinion

Hello there!

So I nominated an outlier baseball page on Roberto Clemente - Legacy of Roberto Clemente; you can take a look for yourself - for deletion. However, there isn't a lot of input on the Afd except one person. The page was recently created with material lifted from Clemente's Wikiquote page and main article, and is mostly praise or just quotes about people talking about Clemente.

It's an unusual page, to say the least, and no similar page exists like it for any athlete. I believe it violates a few rules about WP:CFORK and definitely violates WP:NPOV. I don't think it adds value or gives information on Clemente. Any relevant information in the page is already explained in great detail on the main article.

I would add that the same user created a list of awards page for Clemente which has speedy deleted by myself since it was just a list what was in the infobox of Clemente's page. This page is basically the same but another user (who is against deletion of anything regardless of what the content is) contested it. So I'd just like you to weigh in. Thank you! Omnis Scientia (talk) 17:26, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, I decided to create a template on Clemente (Template:Roberto Clemente) as a replacement for this page and the other page AND so all links about Clemente can be easily found. Omnis Scientia (talk) 18:25, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'll give it a look when I get a chance. The Roberto Clemente template was a great idea.-- Yankees10 23:27, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Yankees10, hey there. Did you get a chance to look at the AFD? Omnis Scientia (talk) 10:01, 5 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thoughts? That table is cool but readers want to know who started each year. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 18:51, 4 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Instead of "Seasons with the Packers" it should just list the years the player started for the team. Like Template:Green Bay Packers starting quarterback navbox does.-- Yankees10 01:00, 5 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think it should be like all the other ones where we have who started each year. Looks like it was just changed recently without discussion? I went to that page to see who started this year but the info's not there anymore. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 01:28, 5 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes I agree. It appears Gonzo fan2007 (talk · contribs) made the changes in November with this edit here.-- Yankees10 02:34, 5 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the ping. Honestly I struggled with whether to have total time with the Packers, or just the seasons they started. I'll work to incorporate seasons they started as well. The change to the new format was to more closely match how we typically layout tables on Wiki. Since this is a list of players, the players themselves (not the seasons) should be the primary scope of each row. This provides sortability, the ability to show standard QB stats for each QB and more closely resembles the only source I can find that actually lists starting QBs as a group: [1] [2]. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 15:16, 5 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Gonzo fan2007: The starters by year table is the most useful part of these lists, in my opinion. A lot of these lists have both the standard by-year table and a summary table like the one you added. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 23:10, 5 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

Happy New Year, my friend. I just saw your revert on Robert Quinn. The reason I didn't revert it earlier, I checked Granato's contribs and he's been doing a lot lately. You may have your work cut out for you. If you do follow up with him and have some sort of plan, or certain no-no's, let me know and I'll help. If you say **** **, I get that also. Catch you later. Bringingthewood (talk) 00:58, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Happy New Year's to you as well. Yeah they've made too many edits to bother with right now. I'll probably just revert if I see it on my watchlist, otherwise i'm just gonna say **** ** lol.-- Yankees10 01:13, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Xavier Mckinney

I see you changed my revision. I think intercepting a ball twice in a game and winning player of the week is certainly notable 2600:1017:B81B:1DCA:640D:2946:E0C9:39B8 (talk) 20:59, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Suffix proliferation

How is this still at Steve Smith Sr.? I thought this was moved back years ago but I guess not? It should just be "Steve Smith (wide receiver, born 1979)" His WP:COMMONNAME is not " Steve Smith Sr." It's just Steve Smith. We shouldn't have Sr. there just because he added it to the back of his jersey his last season or so. Having it at Sr. is very misleading to readers. Having the title at Sr. suggests to readers that that is what people actually call him like Ken Griffey Jr or Robert Griffin III. Ronald Jones II should be moved to Ronald Jones (running back) as well. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 14:52, 22 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know I kind of disagree. I believe he still goes by Steve Smith Sr. as an analyst on NFL Network. I think Steve Smith Sr. is now his common name. Others may agree with it just being Steve Smith tho.-- Yankees10 07:18, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Look I understand where you are coming from but I believe those are notable records. I will cite them all just please, this has taken me hours to collect. MarqueesCalaway (talk) 04:05, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

No they aren't. They are just a bunch of unsourced arbitrary "records" you've personally deemed notable. Including records that are receptions by a tight end through first "X" games is ridiculous.-- Yankees10 04:10, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I get not being notable but the tight end position isn't regarded as elite at all and a rookie doing these things, is insane. I believe they should be shown. I get you probably are higher level than me monitoring these pages, but I have put a lot of work into multiple pages and I believe this is one of my best works. I also believe I have put in the most work for the this page. MarqueesCalaway (talk) 04:13, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It is insane, but that doesn't mean just random unsourced "records" that you've deemed notable should be included. Even tho you've edited this article a good amount too doesn't mean you own it.-- Yankees10 04:15, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay here is what I will do, I will source all my content and then post it. You can look at them and deem them worthy if you want but I will be putting the records I find in there. Your ongoing efforts to improve the encyclopedia have not gone unnoticed: You have been selected as Editor of the Week in recognition of your great contributions! (courtesy of the Wikipedia Editor Retention Project)

User:WikiOriginal-9 submitted the following nomination for Editor of the Week:

I would like to nominate Yankees10 to be Editor of the Week. Yankees10 is one of the most prolific sports editors of all time, contributing to baseball and football articles for almost two decades. He has amassed over 200,000 edits (#251 all time), reverting an untold number of vandals and making pages conform to style guidelines. He has also created over 5,000 articles (top 100 all time) on some of the most popular modern athletes. The vast realm of athletic articles would be drastically diminished without his hard work.

Y10, just for the record, I submitted this months ago but I didn't write "The vast realm of athletic articles would be drastically diminished without his hard work." or the box. Congrats, ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 21:57, 3 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

HEY!! I just saw the message above. CONGRATS!!! Bringingthewood (talk) 00:03, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm, I hadn't realized that conversation was ongoing. I'm kind of indifferent either way lol. I just edited Hunter's because I noticed the Draft was still uppercased. And thank you for the congrats.-- Yankees10 00:30, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome, you deserve it! On a pain in the ass note, I'm tired of going back and forth with petty things. Like you, I see U.S. in my sleep. I won't touch the draft/Draft. If I want pain I'll watch the State of the Union. Have a good week. Bringingthewood (talk) 00:38, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Death of Kenneth Warren Wright Baseball

I'm Kenneth Wright's daughter. I'm not sure if you edited his death from Pensacola, FL to Warrington, Florida. My father did pass away in Pensacola, but not directly in the Warrington area of Pensacola. Thank you for adding his record of death. I'm not familiar with Wikipedia, so I am not sure if I understand how the revisions work. If you would like any further information, then feel free to contact me. Thanks again! I have changed it to Pensacola.-- Yankees10 23:43, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reverts

Hi Yankees10. Could you please start notifying editors when you revert their edits? In case you weren't aware, we have tools such as Twinkle and Ultraviolet that make this easy to accomplish with a single mouse click. Thanks, Fastily 07:31, 14 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) Yankees10 deals with trolls and fanboys on a daily basis. Notifying every single person and also sending them talk page messages would just invite endless edit wars. If anyone who knows about Wikipedia guidelines actually care about the articles, they will have them on their watchlists. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 13:09, 14 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh really? Warnings are incredibly useful to admins dealing with abuse. You should never engage in "edit wars" in the first place, noticeboards for requesting admin intervention exist for a good reason. -Fastily 21:37, 14 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You're just talking about vandalism right? I don't usually send talk page notices for good faith edits. An edit summary will usually do. Anyway, I'll let Yankees decide what to do. Bye. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 22:08, 14 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

My God, that was awful. Nice to be loved, but that was ridiculous. Thanks for the heads-up regarding your secret admirers. I was planning on an hour of reverts, lol. Bringingthewood (talk) 03:48, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Edits summaries

According to the consensus policy, all edits should be explained (unless the reason for them is obvious)—either by clear edit summaries, or by discussion on the associated talk page. It is a good practice to provide a meaningful summary for every edit, especially when reverting the actions of other editors or deleting existing text. 2603:7000:2101:AA00:B1B2:D097:B1F5:F9D5 (talk) 06:43, 1 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Jameis Winston

Can I get an exact reason for you to roll back all of the changes I made? One of them was for a broken link, "redshirted" hyperlinks to the correct "redshirt" page I linked it to.

Another instance is there's two consecutive sentences that start with "Winston," and there's no reason for it. One can be changed to "he," as I did.

I would think context is also important - I've seen other pages that describe a player tying or breaking a record last held by a player and then naming said player, as I did with mentioning Matthew Stafford.

I understand if not all of my changes were necessary, but they didn't all deserve to get rolled back. What do you classify as a "non upgrade?" ParXivalRPT (talk) 01:54, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Most just seemed like unnecessary minor changes to me that didn't help much. Also too many unnecessary semicolons.-- Yankees10 02:24, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

MLB prospect question

Hey Yankees10, I was wondering, since I've seen you create entries at MLB minor league player lists (e.g. New York Yankees minor league players), is there any criteria for who qualifies to have an entry there? (Was thinking about potentially doing an entry on one of those lists; I made it a life goal of mine to start an article on someone who played in each of the four major U.S. sports leagues and I only have MLB left ) BeanieFan11 (talk) 19:32, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@BeanieFan11: Generally these lists are for players who fall a few references short on passing WP:GNG before they are ready for a stand alone article. While also taking into account prospect status and how likely they are to make the major leagues.-- Yankees10 23:17, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Darius Robinson

Since the NFL website and the team website labeled Darius Robinson as a defensive lineman instead of a defensive end (https://www.nfl.com/players/darius-robinson-2/ & https://www.azcardinals.com/team/players-roster/darius-robinson/), I was meaning to only change his football position and not everything else that changed with my edit. I'll be more careful with my edits. If his football position should still say defensive end instead of defensive lineman, that is fine, as I've been only going off of the NFL website and the team websites when I've been reviewing the stated football positions for all the players that have been drafted so far.

In the future, please let me know on my talk page if I make any other confusing edits in case I don't catch any inadvertent changes that I make. Thank you for catching my mistake for me. RevMSWIE500 (talk) 06:47, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Why revert (Maliek Collins trade)

You reverted change that was made on 18:12, 27 April 2024‎ that fixes an incorrect statement that Maliek Collins was traded for two 7th round draft picks.

The reference (that was already there) clearly states that Maliek Collins was traded for just one 7th round draft pick, not two. This is also confirmed by this web site that tracks draft picks and trades: https://www.prosportstransactions.com/football/DraftTrades/Years/2024.htm

Why was this change reverted? 68.8.122.215 (talk) 02:48, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Might have been a mistake, I do not recall making this revert. Editing during the NFL draft gets hectic.-- Yankees10 03:52, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Cam Booser

On 11 May 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Cam Booser, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Cam Booser retired from baseball to work as a carpenter in 2017 and made it to Major League Baseball in 2024? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Cam Booser. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Cam Booser), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Information icon Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! Liz Read! Talk! 01:00, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Yankees10,
Please include an explanatory edit summary with your edits and page moves, especially when you are reverting another editor. Not explaining your decisions can lead to misunderstandings and edit wars. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 01:01, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh give me a break. If this is referring to the recent reversions, a user decided to make a purge of edits that I would consider vandalism. I left a message on their talk page, I wasn't going to spend an hour leaving an edit summary to every single edit the user made. I use the edit summary perfectly fine, thanks.-- Yankees10 01:06, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
How are those edits vandelism when they are accurate Kelliecharging (talk) 02:14, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Images

Hey, just curious is there like a guideline for what is considered an upgrade on images? I would think if it is clear and a solo action shot of them and its more recent would be an upgrade in my eyes. Like the Anthony Kay one is a clear image of just him in this most recent season I would think that would be an upgrade no? Kingryan227 (DecreesActs) 17:36, 18 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

CPBL Infobox

Based off the discussion that we had the majority doesn't seem to care either way on what we do. You didn't seem to lean one way or the other either. Feel like there was more leaning towards allowing it than not it wasn't overruled. I did everything on my end to the discussion and voted yes and the only exception I agreed with was a guy like Manny Ramirez but I did what I could on my end to open a topic. If the majority doesn't seem to care then what does it hurt to change the guideline? Because the stepping over one another is ridiculous. If the majority doesn't seem to care I feel like that is grounds enough for a guidelines change. You go off guidelines and I believe they are outdated the 2024 CPBL isn't what it was back in the late 2000s. I mean truly how big of a difference is it from the KBO to the CPBL? We got two guys who are a yes on the topic and multiple who don't care either way I would call that majority rules. Kingryan227 (DecreesActs) 02:29, 22 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Derrick Henry

Added another source proving that there is $9M guaranteed in his first year of his contract with the Ravens. I also want to let you know that I am NOT a WP:Sockpuppet. Please see my user page for more information about me. Oompaloompa1971 (talk) 17:27, 27 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

George Pickens

Hi there, Y10. You might have George Pickens on your watchlist. Someone changed the city of birth. Before I reverted, I checked PFR. No mention of Hoover there. Just as the high school and his hometown doesn't mean place of birth anyway. Then I checked who created the page ... and here I am. Any specific link out there I could use if I had to go back and forth with someone in the future? Thanks in advance. Bringingthewood (talk) 00:25, 29 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmm... I cant seem to find any source that says where he was born. Probably best to leave it empty for now.-- Yankees10 02:18, 29 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hah, you read my mind. You created it, so I came here first. I saw some hometown news, but you just backed it up. Blank until a source comes along. Thanks for the reply. Enjoy your weekend .. and always remember, if I edit something that you don't agree with - SHOOT ME DOWN right away. ;) Regards, John. Bringingthewood (talk) 02:43, 29 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Oh cool, NFL starters aren't notable anymore. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 02:48, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This sites guidelines on notability for athletes is all fucked now.-- Yankees10 05:17, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I know, it went to sh*t at WP:NSPORTS2022 (which argubly should have been no consensus). Now we can't just have fun making articles. We have to go rummaging through online newspaper archives hoping to find something. That's why I haven't been making NFL players like I used to. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 05:24, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It is truly ridiculous. Meanwhile random college football backups seemingly can be deemed notable with a few references from their high school days. There is almost 7 million articles here I have no idea why there is a problem with players that appeared in games can't be automatically notable.-- Yankees10 05:35, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I know it's BS. We have nearly 7 million articles and there are like 25K all-time NFL players, and that's somehow a problem? MLB and NBA have way less than NFL too. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 05:40, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Did you see the cautionary note that was added to Wikipedia:WikiProject National Football League/Articles to create? ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 18:42, 4 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Honestly it's garbage. The first sentence especially will do nothing but dissuade people from creating articles in the future. I removed it.-- Yankees10 19:55, 7 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know how you can say "Some articles do not exist for a good reason". The reason most of these articles aren't created yet is because there aren't that many users creating these ex-player articles anymore not because they aren't notable. I can't even remember the last time I personally created one and a lot of the people that created them in the past don't even edit anymore or just don't create these type of articles.-- Yankees10 19:59, 7 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Without NGRIDIRON, it's a lot more time consuming to create articles. It's harder for new users to get started creating articles nowadays. New NFL articles won't get approved without GNG sources. And new users literally don't even have access to the sources. You have 500+ edits and six months to get access to Newspapers.com. New users won't want to jump through all of those hoops. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 21:17, 7 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yup 100%. It's frustrating.-- Yankees10 22:57, 7 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
8 games (4 starts) = redirect. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 02:26, 8 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Donaldson edit

Thanks for reverting that. I missed his retirement announcement and thought he was just a free agent but then found out he retired. That was just me being dumb. Michael6392!! (talk) 04:38, 2 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Brett Hundley

Is it possible for me to fix the edits to Brett Hundley because the article would look better if his career was split by season under the Professional career section and one of the pictures of Hundley with the Packers should be on the right since it would look better if the pictures were on separate sides as they were taken two days apart. Also, the date he re-signed with the Cardinals in 2020 is incorrect. Is it O.K. if I fix those because I am NOT a WP:Sockpuppet. Oompaloompa1971 (talk) 21:27, 6 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Someone edited the Brett Hundley page since he retired from professional football. Please do NOT revert those changes since Hundley is no longer a free agent. Oompaloompa1971 (talk) 16:54, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oompaloompa, please don't try to deceive other editors. It is obvious that you are the IP that added 12K bytes to Brett Hundley's article. You both used the same edit summary. You're allowed to edit logged out but don't try to act like you are two different people. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 17:04, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I do not want the edits to be reverted and my hard work to be put to waste. Oompaloompa1971 (talk) 17:14, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's kind of hard to tell what you're doing. Your edit summary says "Made the article better by breaking down his tenure with the Packers by season. There was also an incorrect date where he re-signed with the Cardinals, so I fixed that." Yet your edit added 12,000 bytes to the article somehow? I advise trying to explain what you're doing better. Thanks, ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 17:48, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I want to add content about the 2016 season since it was not included and other performances from the 2017 season. Oompaloompa1971 (talk) 18:01, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Why did you change the access date for the reference "Colts Sign QB Brett Hundley To Practice Squad" from February 14, 2023 to November 8, 2021? That's just one example. It looks like this has been brought up on your talk page before. Are you reverting the article back to an earlier version? ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 18:09, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Micheal Brantley Page

Why did you revert the edit of Brantley's accomplishment of winning the 2022 WS? He was on the roster and he received a ring. Gerominostilton (talk) 01:26, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

because he was injured and not on the roster-- Yankees10 03:14, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Tampa Bay Rays minor league players, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Lovejoy High School.

Hello Yankees10, I just wanted to touch base with you on Jordan Love. Moving forward I am going to be a bit more cautious with straight reverts on the page and likely try to bring any issues to the talk page instead. I appreciate your passion and contributions, especially to Packers content, and would greatly prefer to have a good working relationship with you. My apologies if my actions caused this most recent issue to spiral a bit. Cheers, « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 16:44, 2 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Section titles

I’m confused. You change section titles that indicate that a ballplayer is in the MLB team x organization. To instead delete organization. Leaving it misleadingly looking as though the player is playing for the MLB team. That doesn’t seem to be helpful to readers. And certainly does not seem to me to call for you to revise what was already more precise. 2603:7000:2101:AA00:8C5A:746:E96:BD00 (talk) 21:05, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Major League Baseball players

Hi – a note/question regarding your recent edit (which I understand) to Mickey Gasper, whereby individual players should not appear in Category:Major League Baseball players. As there are some players who only appeared as pinch runners or pinch hitters in their major-league careers (Herb Washington and Eddie Gaedel come to mind)... might there be room for some sort of "Category:Major League Baseball other players", to capture players who never played a defensive position or DH? Else if Category:Major League Baseball players by team‎ suffices for Washington (Category:Oakland Athletics players) and Gaedel (Category:St. Louis Browns players), should perhaps Gasper's Category:Major League Baseball first basemen and Category:Major League Baseball catchers be removed unless or until he plays defensively? Dmoore5556 (talk) 03:24, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Baseball catchers and Category:Baseball first basemen can be used until he plays those positions in the majors. I usually just add the "Major League" part automatically at their MLB debut because it's too hard to keep track of.-- Yankees10 03:54, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Starting quarterbacks

I understand that the general policy is to wait until the first snap of a game to update starting-related information for WP:CRYSTAL reasons, but I've always found it silly that official team announcements are disregarded. Unless a freak off-the-field injury occurs or he gets abducted by aliens before then, what is there to question and why isn't this logic applied to prose? ~ Dissident93 (talk) 02:41, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Because freak injuries do in fact occur (Teddy Bridgewater). I have no idea what the rush is. He has in fact not started a game for the Commanders therefore he does not belong on the template. I don't understand the issue.-- Yankees10 02:53, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's the lack of reasoning in how this can fine for prose but not allowed for templates that I find to be problematic. Is it simply because prose is for announcements while the templates are more for starts once they become statistical? ~ Dissident93 (talk) 14:38, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please Stop

Hello Yankee10. I saw you recently reversed edits I made without ever explaining. Please don’t do that because the majority of my edits that were designed for changing the image of the player were better. For active players, the more recent the better, so ex. Javier Baez. Some of them I might have done for a cleaner page, but you changed those too. I understand somewhat for a couple of them, but you also changed my Trevor Bauer image size edit for no reason I wanted to make the image a little bigger because I found it a little too small before but you changed it for some reason. I would kindly request you to explain why you changed every single one of them or revert back. I hope this reaches you well. Michael6392!! (talk) 01:34, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Because the images were not better. And most of the time were already used in the article.-- Yankees10 01:37, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the response. I understand your perspective but may you kindly explain what makes them not better, particularly Javier Baez, Zack Greinke, and Trevor Bauer. The rest I can settle on but I would like an explanation for these three. Thank you for your patience. Michael6392!! (talk) 01:41, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The point of the infobox images is the one that best shows a players face. Other than Greinke these are not upgrades in the slightest. For the record you gave no original reasoning in the edit summary why you changed these in the first place or why are using the same image twice in these articles.-- Yankees10 01:49, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your explanation. I now understand your point of view. I get why you changed Baez in the first place now but that still doesn’t explain Greinke. I will come to an agreement to change Javier Baez back but please keep Greinke the way he is. I get it’s used twice in the article but the previous image was so horrendously bad I feel as if it can be overlooked or at least not reverted and at minimum just find another image. You also still have not explain the Trevor Bauer revert. Thank you for your understanding. Michael6392!! (talk) 01:53, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thank you for your contributions. I note your reverts here. Per WP:NCBASE#Disambiguation, the preferred disambiguation methods are in order 1 through 5. Since we can disambiguate by decade (see bullet point 4), we do not use date of birth (the last resort, see bullet point 5.) 162 etc. (talk) 04:13, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Yankees10: Do you have any explanation for reverting pagemoves that are explicitly supported by a well-established naming convention? 162 etc. (talk) 17:56, 28 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) The line you're referencing says "If their careers did not overlap". Their careers did overlap though. So the next step is using the birth year. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 19:32, 28 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This and the fact that I already stated this is the standard disambiguation for numerous same position baseball players. See Billy Hamilton (baseball, born 1990) and Billy Hamilton (baseball, born 1866) as an example.-- Yankees10 23:28, 28 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The Billy Hamiltons should also be moved, per the same rationale. RMs will be opened for all. 162 etc. (talk) 02:44, 29 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You need to create a discussion at WP:baseball on what the disambiguation should be because there are numerous others. Not just these 2.-- Yankees10 03:08, 29 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sure that WP:BASEBALL is well-aware of the existence of WP:NCBASE. 162 etc. (talk) 03:27, 29 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question

What's your opinion on the hockey infobox? ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 14:16, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I hardly care about hockey to be honest, but I think It's shit lol. It lacks way too much key info that the other infoboxes have like years played for each team or All-Star selections etc. Also the lack of templates at the bottom of the page for the MVP and whatnot has always been ridiculous in my opinion.-- Yankees10 21:48, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Y10, that's what I hoped you'd say. Wayne Gretzky is the greatest ever (apparently, the infobox doesn't convey anything). You have to go down to the stats box to figure out who he played for. And who knows how many Stanley Cups or All-Star games he has. Guess that doesn't matter. There are actually multiple reddit threads complaining about the hockey infobox ([3][4])
I looked to see if there were any reddit compaints about the NFL infobox, but thankfully I didn't find anything. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 22:04, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah it is truly very odd how bare bones they've decided to make it. Even tho like I said I don't follow hockey much, it would be nice when I do look up player that I can at least get a general idea how good a player was by looking at the infobox.-- Yankees10 22:18, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If they wanna keep the infobox uncluttered but make it better, here is what I would do:
  • Add years spans beside the teams (that won't add anymore lines, it will all still be on the same line)
  • Remove the redundant playing career and coaching career lines.
  • Add a line for Stanley cups wins and a line for All Star appearances.
My version of the infobox will be the exact same length as the current one but be a lot better. What do you think? ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 22:32, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah I think that sounds good. Hell of a lot better than what they have now.-- Yankees10 22:39, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I’m not saying MetsMerized is a great source and feel free to find a better one, but the whole point of the article is to mention how his season is going, and his incredible start is quality information. WP:NOTNEWS doesn’t mean we don’t leave any information about his season, nor will it ever. 173.14.40.185 (talk) 23:44, 28 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The issue is with the second half "his performance became inconsistent since". When is "since"? "inconsistent" is also not neutral.-- Yankees10 23:51, 28 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
