** ‘Still Alive’ is the first track Lovato has released since 2022’s pop-punk album ‘Holy Fvck’.
** The track was co-written and produced by Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda, who also makes a cameo in the official video.
** The accompanying music video sees Lovato and her friends attend what they believe is a screening of Scream 6 but a masked killer soon turns up and starts causing trouble. Ice Nine Kills vocalist Spencer Charnas also makes a cameo.
** “Honoured to have a little cameo in this amazing new Demi Lovato video for one of my all time favourite movie franchises,” said Charnas. “This song slays, she is such a bad ass.”

** Demi Lovato co-wrote the song alongside Laura Veltz and Mike Shinoda, who also produced the track.
** This marked the first release since the debut of the 30-year-old’s eighth studio album, Holy Fvck.
** While the song is inspired by Scream 6, it also has personal meaning for her. Demi Lovato has been open about her 2018 heroin overdose, and wants the world to know that she too is still alive. “The song that I created for the movie was obviously for the movie,” she began. “So I wanted it to tie into the film, but also it’s a very personal song for me too. Lyrically, I wanted to express myself and tell the world how I’m still alive as well.” “I’m a fan of the movies and I’m a fan of horror films,” Demi Lovato admitted. “I was super excited to be a part of this and I can’t wait to see the film again tonight.”
** Alongside the release of the single, Demi Lovato also debuted a music video. The visuals feature cuts from the actual movie in addition to her starring in her very own scary movie. The music video featured two special guest stars — Mike Shinoda alongside Ice Nine Kills frontman Spencer Charnas. The two portray hotel employees that help Lovato and her friends check into the establishment before the group catches a scary movie in the ballroom.
** “Proud to have co-written & produced this track for the one and only Demi Lovato,” Shinoda tweeted. “More music on the way.” “Honored to have a little cameo in this amazing new Demi Lovato video for one of my all-time favorite movie franchises, Scream. This song SLAYS, she is such a badass,” Charnas wrote.

** We wouldn’t be surprised if it were an unreleased track that just simply didn’t make the cut [for Holy Fvck], for if we swapped it with another song on the record, then it would still be in perfect cohesion.
** The ‘Still Alive’ lyrics also echo Demi’s struggle with their own inner demons.

** the lead single off the Scream VI soundtrack
** This track feels like an extension of Lovato’s Holy Fvck album
** “Still Alive” is a sickening reminder that she belongs in the genre [punk-rock].
** In order to deliver angsty greatness, you have to work with an even angstier legend — it’s key. Lovato understood the assignment
** “Still Alive” is stacked with elements of punk-rock, such as sludgy metal guitars, rousing melodies, menacing drum patterns, and gloomy one-liners. These dark hues are necessary touches for “Still Alive,” as the singer wails about surviving through a living hell.
** “I couldn’t think of a more perfect home for ‘Still Alive’ than within the Scream universe,” Lovato said in a press release. “I’m a huge fan of the films, so it’s an honor to contribute to such an iconic horror franchise.”
** In the accompanying music video, Lovato and her crew show up to a hotel for what appears to be a screening of Scream VI. That observation is teased when she gives an invitation to the front desk receptionist that reads, “Do you like scary movies?”
** It isn’t long before the screening turns into a slasher film. Ghostface suddenly rises from the ashes and bludgeons everyone with a knife, of course. By the end of the video, Lovato’s the last one standing and has to fight off Ghostface. Right as she raises the knife to stab him, the scene stills and pans out to show the entire attack wasn’t real, but rather part of the actual screening they came to watch.
** Unsurprisingly, the lyrics are just as tantalizing as the music video. Beginning with an eerie synth, Lovato details various nightmarish scenarios she’s woken up in. She croons, “Woke up under water / Throat chained at the collar / Couldn’t get any farther / From the daylight / Was I still dreaming / Stuck to a machine or / Choking and screaming with my hands tied.”
** Her voice is stagnant during this description; however, there’s just enough underlying power in her cadence to give listeners chills. The track’s puckish rhythms begins to pick up in the pre-chorus, where she’s become “so numb” to the idea of someone rescuing her from this hell-ish life. Though apathetic, Lovato realizes she has to be her own savior, and that realization blares in the chorus. “Still alive / I don’t wanna just survive / Give me something to sink all my teeth in / Eat the devil and spit out my demons,” she wails, her cracky rasps adding a stunning layer of resilience to the lyrics.
** Lovato’s strength, which seems to be constantly tested by her “demons,” remains strong throughout the rest of the tune.
* [https://www.billboard.com/music/pop/demi-lovato-scream-vi-cut-still-alive-watch-1235279108/ Billboard]
** It's the first taste of Lovato's new music since her seventh studio album, "Holy Fvck".
** “Still Alive,” which sees Lovato cruising in that pop-punk lane and spitting out lyrics that illustrate a living hell.
** Lovato, of course, came very close to losing it all when she overdosed on heroin in 2018. She’s since spoken candidly about the incident, and the ongoing road to recovery from a binge that left her with three strokes, a heart attack, and blind spots in her vision.
** Jensen Noen directs the “Still Alive” music video

** There are a handful of modern artists uniquely suited to give us horror and thrilling pop music at the same time — Demi Lovato is one of them. “Still Alive,” the singer’s new track from the new film Scream VI, is a masterclass is balancing the scary vibes of the iconic franchise with a roaring rock sensibility, as they blast through the verses and chorus declaring that she “went to hell but I’m back and I’m breathing,” while asking you to “make me bleed while my heart is still beating.” It’s an excellent addition to Lovato’s renewed rock era, and still flexes the boundless vocal prowess that made them a star in the first place.

    • Demi Lovato co-wrote the song alongside Laura Veltz and Mike Shinoda, who also produced the track.
    • This marked the first release since the debut of the 30-year-old’s eighth studio album, Holy Fvck.
    • While the song is inspired by Scream 6, it also has personal meaning for her.
    • Alongside the release of the single, Demi Lovato also debuted a music video.
    • “Proud to have co-written & produced this track for the one and only Demi Lovato,” Shinoda tweeted. “More music on the way.” “Honored to have a little cameo in this amazing new Demi Lovato video for one of my all-time favorite movie franchises, Scream. This song SLAYS, she is such a badass,” Charnas wrote.

    • We wouldn’t be surprised if it were an unreleased track that just simply didn’t make the cut [for Holy Fvck], for if we swapped it with another song on the record, then it would still be in perfect cohesion.
    • The ‘Still Alive’ lyrics also echo Demi’s struggle with their own inner demons.

    • This track feels like an extension of Lovato’s Holy Fvck album
    • “Still Alive” is a sickening reminder that she belongs in the genre [punk-rock].
    • In order to deliver angsty greatness, you have to work with an even angstier legend — it’s key. Lovato understood the assignment
    • “Still Alive” is stacked with elements of punk-rock, such as sludgy metal guitars, rousing melodies, menacing drum patterns, and gloomy one-liners. These dark hues are necessary touches for “Still Alive,” as the singer wails about surviving through a living hell.
    • “I couldn’t think of a more perfect home for ‘Still Alive’ than within the Scream universe,” Lovato said in a press release. “I’m a huge fan of the films, so it’s an honor to contribute to such an iconic horror franchise.”
    • In the accompanying music video, Lovato and her crew show up to a hotel for what appears to be a screening of Scream VI. That observation is teased when she gives an invitation to the front desk receptionist that reads, “Do you like scary movies?”
    • It isn’t long before the screening turns into a slasher film.
    • Unsurprisingly, the lyrics are just as tantalizing as the music video.
    • Her voice is stagnant during this description; however, there’s just enough underlying power in her cadence to give listeners chills.
    • Lovato’s strength, which seems to be constantly tested by her “demons,” remains strong throughout the rest of the tune.

    • “Still Alive,” which sees Lovato cruising in that pop-punk lane and spitting out lyrics that illustrate a living hell.
    • Lovato, of course, came very close to losing it all when she overdosed on heroin in 2018. She’s since spoken candidly about the incident, and the ongoing road to recovery from a binge that left her with three strokes, a heart attack, and blind spots in her vision.

    • There are a handful of modern artists uniquely suited to give us horror and thrilling pop music at the same time — Demi Lovato is one of them.
