James McMurdock (born 1986) is a Reform UK politician who has served as Member of Parliament (MP) for South Basildon and East Thurrock since the 2024 general election.[1]

He is the youngest elected Reform MP.[2]

McMurdock grew up in Basildon and graduated from the University of Sussex with a BA in Economics.[3] He worked in the banking sector for Barclays Capital, Goldman Sachs, and Lehman Brothers and specialised in energy, infrastructure, and manufacturing.[3] Prior to being elected he was director of fitness company Gym Live.[4]

McMurdock was elected MP for South Basildon and East Thurrock in the 2024 UK general election.[1] He gained the seat from the incumbent MP Stephen Metcalfe of the Conservative party.[5] He became the second Reform UK MP in Essex, after leader Nigel Farage, and the fifth Reform UK MP elected in the election.[6]
