Manna Jo Greene is a civil rights and environment activist, nurse and legislator representing the 19th district in the Ulster County, New York legislature.

Early life
Greene was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and lived there until age 9. She attended high school in Stamford, Connecticut. She was a founding member and secretary of the Bridgeport chapter of the Congress of Racial Equality.

Career

Greene was a long-time member of the volunteer litter picking team at Clearwater's Great Hudson River Revival. This led her to a career change and she became the first Recycling Coordinator for the town of New Paltz in 1989[1] and then was quickly recruiting to do that for the entire county with the Ulster County Resource Recovery Agency.[1]<add detail>

Greene was Environmental Action director at Hudson River Sloop Clearwater from July 2000 until retiring in June 2023.

Personal life
Greene has two sons, Ivan and Solomon, and a grandson Emmett.[2]
