Planet Perfecto were a dance "supergroup" formed in 1997 by Paul Oakenfold, Ian Masterson & Jake Williams. The were signed to Oakenfold's record label, Perfecto Records.

Introduction

Their first release was Georgie Girl on 12" vinyl in 1997; the single did not make it into the UK single charts[1]. However, their next track, Not Over Yet '99, was very successful in dance music terms by going in at number 16 on the 8th of August, 1999[2]. They worked with a fourth producer, Matt Darey, and vocalist Grace to create the track, which was to be the first of four hits for the group.

Oakenfold, Masterson & Williams

Before forming Planet Perfecto, all three producers had made their names in the dance music scene under different guises. Most notably Jake Williams as JX[3]> and Masterson with Flexifinger[4]. Paul Oakenfold was often viewed as being the main force behind "Planet Perfecto", but this is probably due to the fact that Paul was more of a household name; being very successful as a DJ and having hits under numerous guises[5].

Today

Unlike their pop group & band counterparts, dance acts don't tend to officially "split" but it can be assumed that Planet Perfecto have disbanded due to a lack of a single being released since 2001. All three producers have also undertaken many independent projects since their last single.
