Whimsy is the combination of humor, oddity, and pleasantness[1] present in film, literature, and visual art, as well as in human personality. It is the trait of being playful, fanciful, and delightful, rather than serving a specific logical purpose,[2] and is related to the feeling of doing something on the spur of the moment.[3] Whimsy is considered a positive aesthetic, antithetical to fear, sadness, and danger.[3]
