The Milan Charter[1] is a document that sets out the principles and objectives on the subject of nutrition, environmental sustainability and human rights.
It was proposed at Expo 2015 during the Milan Universal Exposition (1 May - 31 October 2015), and on 16 October 2015 it was presented to the Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) Ban Ki-moon.
The "charter"[2] indicates who signed firm commitments regarding the right to food that is one of the fundamental human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Lack of access to healthy food, sufficient and nutritious food, clean water and energy, is considered a violation of human dignity.[3]
The collective action of citizens, together with civil society, businesses and local, national and international is considered one of the prerequisites to win the major challenges related to food.[4]
Fight malnutrition and malnutrition, promote equitable access to natural resources, the sustainable management of production processes, represent the commitment that the underwriters of the Charter of Milan[5] undertake to support.
