Uludag University (Turkish: Uludağ Üniversitesi) is a university located in Bursa, Turkey. The research and education conducted by the university have an emphasis on medicine ,engineering, natural sciences and art. In particular, Faculty of Medicine and Mechanical Engineering , Faculty of Engineering and Architecture have the most populated staff employed as academicians. The official language of instruction at Uludag University is Turkish and English.

History

Actually this university is one of the best universities in Turkey and this university also a world ranked university. Bursa Faculty of Medicine (once under İstanbul University) which was established in 1970, and Bursa Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences which was founded in 1974, formed the basis of Uludag University. The university was established in 1975 under the name of Bursa University and the university took its current name in 1982.

The faculties of university were established:

  • In 1976 Faculty of Engineering and Architecture
  • In 1978 Faculty of Veterinary
  • In 1981 Faculty of Agriculture
  • In 1982 Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences
  • In 1982 Faculty of Education
  • In 1982 Faculty of Theology
  • In 1983 Faculty of Arts and Sciences
  • In 1995 Faculties of Law, Fine Arts and Dentistry

In addition to faculties, these schools were founded:

  • In 1985 Vocational School of Health Services
  • In 1986 Bursa Vocational School
  • In 1996 Bursa Vocational School was divided into two as the Vocational School of Technical Sciences and the Vocational School of Social Sciences. In 1992 the Vocational School of Theology was founded under the Faculty of Theology.
  • In 1994 Mustafa Kemal Paşa Vocational School
  • In 1995 Karacabey Vocational School
  • In 1995 İnegöl Vocational School
  • In 1995 İznik Vocational School
  • In 1995 Yalova Vocational School
  • In 1996 School of Health
  • In 1997 Yenişehir İbrahim Orhan Vocational School
  • In 1999 Orhangazi Vocational School
  • In 1999 Mennan Pasinli Vocational School
  • In 1998 UÜ State Conservatory (half-time status)
  • In 1999 UÜ State Conservatory Music and Ballet Primary School (full-time status)

Organization

The university includes 11 faculties, 1 school on the undergraduate level, 12 vocational schools, 1 conservatoire, 3 institutes, 11 research centers and 6 departments that are under Presidency. In the academic year 2007–2008, there were 44,048 students enrolled in the university.[1]
