In 1998, high-profile producer [[Bob Rock]] heard American Hi-Fi’s demo and, liking what he heard, invited the group to rehearse in the producer’s Hawaii studio space. The band relocated to Hawaii, honing its sound with Rock, who had worked with such superstar bands as [[Aerosmith]], [[Metallica]], and [[The Cult]]. The result was American Hi-Fi’s self-titled debut on Island Records. Released in 2001 to critical acclaim, the album debuted at No. 1 on the Heatseekers chart in the March 17, 2001 issue of Billboard Magazine. “Flavor of the Weak,” the group’s first single, was a top 40 hit.

The band has released 3 albums to date. A 4th album is complete, with a planned 2010 release.
